Two Louisiana companies announce layoffs impacting 353 employees

Two employers in South Louisiana have issued Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications (WARNs) announcing mass layoffs or plant closures.

Bradken announced the suspension of operations at its foundry facility in Amite, La. and stated that the layoffs could affect up to 65 employees and will occur at different times based on product flow. They expect the first layoff to begin on October 26. The LWC’s Rapid Response team has been in contact with the employer and will assist affected individuals find new employment opportunities. All those affected by plant closures or mass layoffs are also encouraged to visit their local Business and Career Solutions Center.

Trinity Marine Products, Inc. announced the permanent closure of its plant in Brusly, La. affecting 288 employees. Layoffs are scheduled to begin October 31 and conclude on December 9. LWC’s Rapid Response team has scheduled orientation sessions for the affected employees.

ProActive Technologies, Inc. announced a mass layoff at its B52 contract location in Barksdale, affecting 51 employees beginning Oct. 31. The employer expects a majority of the workers to be re-hired by a new contractor.

Economy is far from great here in S LA. Hence, why you see the annual exodus to Houston, Dallas and Atlanta by graduating college kids.

Last one can barely even be counted as LA and it is just standard rebid of a MIL contract. Not a big deal at all. New contract holder will hire in place anyone that is worth a damn and they won't miss a day of work.

Trinity Marine closed and reopened the Brusly yard a couple of times but this time Trinity has closed almost every yard in Louisiana.

The first sentence says South Louisiana. Barksdale isn't in South Louisiana

Trinity closed in Madisonville and now brusley

They will have made 700 louisiana layoffs in 12 months

We've got 2 WARN act letters this year. Each time a week after the letter went out we picked up big jobs.

What about the yard in NOLA on the industrial canal?
