NHC Atlantic Ops ?@NHC_Atlantic University Park, FL
Relocation of Erika causes cone graphic to look peculiar. System appears to be dissipating and last advisory likely soon.

But, but, but this is the one to watch! This is the storm that will threaten the US coast from New England to Laredo. I read it right here a week and 20 something pages ago. You mean it's dead? It can't be! All the weather experts here Said this is it.

Dumb statement is dumb.

25+ people died because of that storm.

People die from weather events all the time.

The entire east coast and gulf coast was under high alert for a storm that was essentially a tropical depression or weaker for about half the time they actually called it a tropical storm. Meteorologically, it was a tropical depression for most of the time it was in the caribbean and it was probably "dissipated" a lot of the time while it was south of Hispaniola. They had to adjust a vortex message down to 1011 mb (el oh el) to continue to justify it.

A lot of gears start turning when a storm gets a name.

This next wave coming off of Africa should be interesting. NOAA predicting a 70% chance of this becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 5 days.

Amazing how many people you run across that have no idea about the difference between EST and EDT.

I've been reading the strong El Niño coming this winter is a factor in a weak hurricane system so far. Too much wind shear.
