I've never seen this with a dress shirt.

I saw some at a semi dressy occasion tonight. Or last night, since it's after midnight.

I grew up in the generation that never tucks into jeans. I always tuck into khakis or slacks. Unless I'm "winding down".

I'll go untucked if the occasion allows.

I'm always torn on how to wear my sweater though. Tied around the waist or around the neck/shoulders?

I am too old for fashion but why do I see so many people with just the very front of their shirt tucked in but the sides and back are out?

Looks fricked up

Well of course. I'm trying to picture a group of girls chatting. "Did you see johnny's un-tucked button down? It was fly as frick." Even if they did like it, I don't know any girls who speak that way.

A button down with jeans can look okay not tucked in. But not a long tailed dress/sport shirt meant to be tucked into slacks. Those don't look great untucked. Some are cut with shorter tails and never meant to be tucked.

There's a difference between a dress shirt and a sport shirt. A sport shirt can be worn untucked.

I wear dress shirts untucked with jeans and shorts. Gotta get my money's worth from the dry cleaner since they have been tucked in slacks.

Women talk about how guys dress, but trust me those guys they're talking about are not wearing untucked dress shirts with Perry Ellis shoes they got on sale at Mervyns
