I will tell you why to not judge so quickly.

I worked for a large really nice storage place, multiple locations and whatnot - and I've seen them take 100k + to the bank in cash.

Just saying there might be a legit reason. You don't know. Don't act like ya do. People tend to surprise you when you stop living so up-tight

I don't know. I don't claim to know. Apparently they are charged with something though.

Yes it's nothing. There is no law on the books that has been consistently and blatantly misused more than this one. It has been shown repeatedly that this law cannot be used in the manner in which it was originally intended. Knowing all of this you are still all for it. For the life of me I can't understand people's thinking on this site. It's like they check their common sense at the door.

So just because it has been misused in the past means any future use of it is wrong?

Don't know BR - it still falls under civil forfeiture though, so Gov money now

You have the stats in a link for the above? I'd be interested to read all about this actually. I might be a convert.

Look I'm not here to give ya shite, but the law is clearly being used improperly. Way more bad than good - i say let it go myself. I can give you links where cops are turning huge sums of money from civil forfeiture.

Yes Mr Lunchbox that's exactly what it means. The law has no place in our society it needs to go. Along with the war on drugs. take the dea and get rid of it as well

In this instance? Because that's the only instance I'm talking about.

It's possible the passengers of the car disclaimed the cash knowing it was drug money.

Well you're entitled to you opinion on the law but that doesn't mean I don't have common sense just because I don't agree with you entirely.

What do you do with drug money seized from drug dealers then? Give it back to the criminals?

We don't know, remember? We both agreed you were assuming and just looking at without knowing all the facts.

Does it look sketchy? Yes.
Does that really constitute taking his money and never get it back? "This is where you quote this and give us your answer"

But you just made a definitive statement. So it's only ok for you to do that?

I gave you a personal example. I wasn't exonerating the guy...

Unless you have been completely isolated from civilization for the last twenty years you should be well informed on the subject. the former sheriff of Calcasieu parish was straight stealing people's property. Caddo parish. Sheriff in Tn. I related my experience. To name a few.

No, you said it is clearly being used improperly. Make up your mind.
