When he saw “a bunch of Bernie Sanders stuff” he said he told the woman, “very politely,” that he could’t tow her car because she was “obviously a socialist” and advised her to “call the government” for a tow.

Well, that's his right as a business owner.
Though I think you should put politics aside when it comes to your personal bottom line. Press doesn't like this kind of stuff and you get bad internet press and some good local attention, problem is that internet bad press is there for a long time.

If you go five miles outside of Asheville, it's hillbilly as it gets. Enka, Black Mountain, Woodfin, etc. There's some seriously weird, fish looking Appalachian inbreds.
And the hippies were replaced by hipsters, from what I've heard from friends still living there.
