Live in Wichita Falls and has been fairly busy this evening and is ongoing...had a few funnels and a tornado about 15 miles south of us...the rainfall has been fabulous, given our drought status

Looks like there might be a big tornado to the SW of y'all down near Throckmorton, Texas.

I'd have to be on some serious medication to live in that part of the country this time of year

These outbreaks are predicted days ahead of time though, the issue is people not preparing/deciding its smart to drive, knowing that these storms are coming.

Seriously though, this is what saturday looks like..

From the SPC:

...SATURDAY/D4...
DESPITE ANOTHER ROUND OF MORNING TSTMS OVER PORTIONS OF THE
CENTRAL/SRN PLAINS EARLY SAT...THE INGREDIENTS APPEAR TO BE COMING
TOGETHER FOR A SUBSTANTIAL SEVERE WEATHER EVENT ACROSS THE
SRN/CENTRAL PLAINS SAT AFTN/EVENING
. ALTHOUGH SOME TIMING/LOCATION
DIFFERENCES EXIST AMONGST LATEST GUIDANCE...THERE IS GENERAL
AGREEMENT ON HEIGHT FALLS/DCVA OVERSPREADING A VERY MOIST WARM
SECTOR /SFC DEW POINTS 65 TO NEAR 70/ AHEAD OF A DRYLINE EXTENDING
FROM SWRN KS SWD INTO W TX. 50-60 KTS OF SWLY 500 MB FLOW WILL
ROTATE AROUND THE UPPER LOW AND ACROSS OK/KS AS A SFC LOW TAKES
SHAPE OVER SWRN KS BY EARLY EVENING. SVR TSTMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP
ALONG THE DRYLINE AND NEAR THE SFC LOW/WARM FRONT DURING THE AFTN IN
AN ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS WITH ALL SEVERE HAZARDS
POSSIBLE. STORMS SHOULD EVENTUALLY EVOLVE INTO CLUSTERS OR LINES
WITH A CONTINUED SVR THREAT OVERNIGHT.

If we are able to get these storms firing up at midnight, I can't imagine how bad Saturday is gone get. But this is Nebraska. When the sky to your west is dark, you best be paying attention.

I just hope the rest of the night is quiet. No where to take shelter where I live, and the sirens are pretty annoying.

Well the leftover energy from daytime heating once the sun sets is usually what sets them off late, which results in late afternoon/evening outbreaks.

also from a member of GCWX:

"Thibodaux High has FFA students in Oklahoma City. Their hotel is flooded with water rising. They are moving to higher floors."

We just usually dont get them this late here. The worst ones like the twin tornados we had last year were midday.

The Pilger storms were around 4pm. There were some strong morning storms, but they had moved out early allowing the atmosphere to recover quite well. Actually for the prior few days and even the morning the SPC only had a slight risk for the area due to the expectation of those morning storms sucking the atmosphere dry. Once they realized that wasn't going to happen they upgraded to a moderate risk (we still only had 3 categories at the time), and issued a PDS (particularly dangerous situation) tornado watch for the area. Also this particular storm that rolled through Pilger was a pretty tight cluster prime for cells to clash and to have those multiple tornadoes. Twin tornadoes aren't that rare, but twin tornadoes which are both of equal, high strength are rare. Usually when you have these satellite tornadoes, the first dying tornado spins off to the left as the new tornado is being born (typically to the southeast), cutting off the inflow to the old tornado. For some reason this new tornado didn't cut off the inflow to the first tornado, and they both co-existed at similar, high, strength.

Late May into June and early July is usually the peak of severe season here.
