This is true. Since he was saying he wasnt replacing the engine I just assumed that he was going to roll the remaining payments into the new vehicle loan.

Not “most”; ALL lenders wouldn’t.

Will it run at all?

Take it to a shady part of town and leave the keys in it.

Problem solved.

I’d throw on some hockey goalie pads and a helmet and run it into a tree

Is throwing a rod not covered by insurance?

No insurance covers a blown engine. It’s a maintenance issue and it’s a specific exclusion in every policy.

However, there is a caveat. If your blown engine is destroyed due to a covered loss (like flood water in the engine) then the insurance will pay for it.

Unless you plan on using it as a paperweight or maybe a flower planter in your yard, I’m not sure what use it will be.

Apparently the OP is still passed out but getting a used engine shouldn't be terribly expensive while having a local shop stuff it in. Unless he has something unusual it certainly won't be $10k.

Geico has an option to cover certain mechanical issues. Dad's Tahoe got a new transmission paid by insurance. Didn't think stuff like that existed but it does. Can't say an engine would be covered if they can prove the owner wasn't giving proper maintenance. Transmission and car were fairly young so it didn't make sense for it to go out as early as it did.

What truck, year, current engine, mileage, etc? That’ll give me an idea of what it takes.

A friend of mine had a nice camaro and the engine was going out.
He went and got drunk and his car was stolen (some friends took it) and then dumped in a canal in the east.
He got insurance money and everyone involved got a good story.
Illegal? Yes, but so what.
