What kind of truck, what year and what engine?

Throwing a rod isn’t very common anymore these days.

How old is the vehicle and how much do you owe on it?

60,000 miles with no oil change might be the problem.

The Lender will add insurance to your monthly payment if you cancel your policy with your insurance company.

Cheaper to replace the engine then pay the loan (which you will have to do) and purchase a new vehicle.

10k doesn’t shock me. It was $9,700 for a new transmission for me recently. Still cheaper than buying a new car though.

My BIL who works for an insurance carrier told me once that lighting a marshmallow on fire and tossing it in the backseat leaves no trace of how the fire started.

How do you throw a rod in an engine on a vehicle new enough to still owe money on?

Check into used engines at places like Oreilly. Sometimes they can find a used one from a salvage yard that’s been inspected and comes with 1-2 year warranty. It’ll be 1/3 of price of new one then have someone install it
