Threw a rod in my engine, still owe some money on this vehicle. I have no plans on replacing the engine, where do I stand on cancelling the plate and dropping the insurance?

You need to satisfy your lien before you can cancel the plate.

Are you old enough for a driver's license?

Mileage? Because (I think) a new engine would also increase the value, especially these days.
Seems like there’s some figures that need figurin.

Check with a body shop and see if they are certified to buy wrecked vehicles at an Insurance auction. They can look for a truck that's been totaled out from a side or rear hit but the engine may still be good at a cheaper price than the engine. They give details and the milage on the vehicles.
You might be able register yourself and just buy one but the body shop may go in with you if its other parts they can use.

Go to a locally own parts house and see if they can get you a salvaged engine.

If you are in Louisiana you can just cancel the plate online.

Expresslane.org

To drop your insurance all you have to do is make a phone call. Most states you can’t cancel online.

Edit: Make sure you cancel your plate first and then cancel your insurance.

Most lenders won’t let you cancel the insurance until the loan is paid off.

Are your tires still good? How much tread you have left.

How much do you still owe on that Ford? Do you plan on selling it?
