When a mechanic gets it right, it's because he knew what he was doing. When a DR gets it right, he could have benefited in that he was dealing with an entity that can fix itself. Easy money
Not a single baby born before DRs?
Drs couldn't even save you from the flu, someone had to invent antibiotics for the Drs to say " hey you have to pay me for me to give that to you"

Getting legislature ln line to vote in lots of new taxes. Same tactic as LSU bankruptcy last year.
I'm sure that's some of it. Many criticized Jindal for not pushing to make harder decisions on cuts. I, for one, think JBE might actually be able to use this to get the attention of the Legislature. No idea if he does but one can hope.
Oh and boo hoo kids, go take some loans out like I did.

I think tops should be kept for the people that have earned it so far.
I wouldn't mind them changing requirements for the future though.
I can't believe all the people saying the only way they went to college was tops. You can get loans and or pay for the shite yourself. Millions of people have done it.
This argument really is all for nothing though. It will be reinstated once JBE gets what he wants.
All politics right now and this is all for show and scare

Should have elected vitter
Talked to vitter's economic advisor Tuesday. He had a plan that would have saved 1 billion without having to touch the state constitution. By cutting off thousands of the little money pots the local legislators have for pet projects.
But Edwards won't touch those because they put him there. Same with tort reform.
You reap what you elect.

operators don't deserve the pay and you know it. It's only due to everyone going to college and leaving the trades that created the boom in payscale for the shift workers

Where's all the Oil prices don't effect me people. Ok keep thinking that. Low oil prices are one of the main factors for this cut.

I have one in college in TOPs right now and another who would be going on TOPs in 2 yrs. I'm willing to let them pay their own way if it means he doesn't get what he wants.

OK so next year will really suck. I'm sure JBE will just offer more taxes and we all will watch this state go from bad to dog shite. Nobody ever asked either candidate what thier plan was to untie this state from big oil. At this point this state is heading down a dark path and the guy leading it signed a order on day one that will guarantee it will be 10x worse than it could have been.
The cost of this eventual political science lesson and economics lesson will be free for all.

I met Pat Taylor once and he would be disappointed with what his tops program has become.

If you are the product of TOPS, everyone should ask for their tax money back. It's clearly a shitty value...
Posted on 2/11/16 at 6:45 pm to BRgetthenet
Hopefully when tops comes back they stop rewarding C level students and actually only give it to kids who earn it through strong academics.

So now operators and doctors don't deserve the pay. Are you pining for the TOPS educated Mechanics Union or something? Please tell us who deserves to be paid well for their career that everyone else funded?

Yeah, because this has only been a problem for the last 12 months

It sucks but there is no way around it. Loss of business and loss of jobs leads to loss of property. Loss of property taxes, income taxes and payroll and corporate taxes. The state doesn't grow money.
So who is left to pay the taxes? If serious cuts are not made then you tax the people with jobs until they are forced to leave or they join the unemployed as well. But where can you make cuts? Jindal was the devil for cutting the only place he could legally. JBE will learn the same soon unless the constitution is fixed. Extreme cuts to the pork projects and protected pork projects is the only plan that can save this state but you can't do that without a vote and the political will power of the governor to abandon his base.

I bet the state of Texas looks forward to taking the best and brightest students out of Louisiana. Here comes the brain drain.
