presa canario's aren't even close to pit bulls when it comes to temperament. they're basically like a mastiff...which are big but calm and gentle.

They should ban every dog that weighs less than 10 pounds. The are the aggressive ones, and the bite more than any other dog.

But they don't eat babies.

I still don't understand why this guy isn't behind bars after killing and maiming a countless amount of people, including kids!

Rhino5's got it. All animals can revert to what ever it is their breed was designed to do at some point. Weiner dogs dig and root, retrievers retrieve, beagles trail and bark, pointers point, and heelers and collies herd etc. Most will do it to some extent even if they have been lap dogs and were never exposed or trained. So when humans make animals that were originally bred and designed to fight, bite, and maim, their pets, I always shake my head when they are so suprised it decides to be what it is or was bred to do.Provoking and mistreatment can expedite the behavior. But it can also show its ugly head even if its had a life of couch laying. I don't think folks were too suprised when the Vegas show majician "Roy Horn" was mauled by one of his tigers. It was just doing what tigers do. Didn't matter that it was raised and treated like a house cat.

Tie a steak around your neck and roll around in some pig blood the next time you visit your criminal brother. One less Gump is a good start.

Deaths

295 Pitbulls
221 All other dogs in the study combined

Maimings

2110 Pitbulls
820 All other dogs in the study combined

Goes to show you that no matter how many cold hard facts you present to some people, they're still dumb or ignorant enough to ignore what those facts say.

Someone will still say "But the percentage of pit-bulls that kill people is minuscule!"

58% of all deaths in that study were pit bulls.

Perhaps that approach frames it a little better. Regardless, point being that pits kill more people than other dogs combined.

Pitbulls can be dangerous. That said, I own one. He was a dog I rescued. I guess that makes me a shite person.

I also don't have kids, so it was a responsibility I was willing to take on. My other dog, a 12 year old lab, is the aggressive one of the house. Pits have a bad reputation, but I'm interested to see some stats on the lifestyles these owners live.

Some people own dogs that the public deems unsafe.

Some people own cars that aren't the safest.

Some people have unsafe jobs.

In all honesty, who gives a shite so long as it doesn't effet them?
