One day at a time..... Just adopt that mantra. You don't have to defeat the next year of work outs... Just nail today's work out.
Tell this to yourself and own it. Focus only on today

I'm mostly convinced people have to at least somewhat enjoy working out to stick with it long term.

I loved working out when I played sports, I mean I loved that shite. It was like a drug, once I get started I won't stop but it's the getting started part that's been hard for me.

Try this man.
Everytime you don't feel like going, rub this on your fricking vagina.

I used to have a membership at planet fitness, only 10 bucks a month. So when I skipped it didn't matter. I told myself it's only 10 bucks
I joined iron tribe (cross fit in Birmingham)
Costs a lot more, so I'm way more motivated to not skip
Plus, I like the "classes" way more.
I know nothing about working out so I like the fact that it's a 45 min class
The trainer says "do this 20 times, this 15 times, this 10 times" and that's it
It's idiot proof.
I end up wasting a lot of time when I went by myself
Plus the cross fit changes the workout every day, never gets boring
But that's just me, everyone is different

Damn good advice, tbh.
Although I'll be honest, I tend to do more of a 3 consecutive days on/1 day off followed by a 2 consecutive days on/1 day off schedule.
If it's my third day in a row, though, I don't push it too hard. That's how you get injured. Better working out than me getting antsy around the house or sitting around drinking beer or something, though.

Yeah, you have to do what's right for you. I had to learn the hard way to not do Legs the day before Back. Now, I do Back at the beginning of the week and Legs on the last day.

A lot of people seem to genuinely enjoy gym workouts and exercise. I am not one of those people, so I can't really help you.
Schwarzenegger walked into a gym as a scrawny kid and loved the sound of the weight plates. I, otoh, hate that sound. I still work out.

This is going to sound harsh but some really good advice given to me by a super successful guy:
"Grow the frick up"
Every time you don't feel like it, tell yourself that phrase.
