Tips on sticking with working out.
Posted by Grateful Dead on 3/1/16 at 12:43 pm05
I use to work out two times a day but since I don't play sports anymore, I lack motivation to get back in shape because I'm not out of shape. I could just use some improvement. I joined a gym but I keep putting it off with work and all. I need some tips to get my arse up and going everyday. I also struggle with consistently eating healthy...tips for that would also be appreciated

Break up with gf/wife.
You'll be hitting the gym on the daily.
Steady poon makes a man lazy.

Work out 4 to 5 days a week, max. Don't do more than two days consecutively.
And, most importantly, self-hatred

I work out 5 to 6 days a week with weights, but I enjoy working out. You don't have to do it like that to get results.

Just like your work is scheduled your workout should be scheduled. Get in the habit of doing it always at the same time and don't let yourself be late.
P.S. You don't have to workout every day. You just need to workout several times a week.

If sports & competing were what motivated you, you should look into Crossfit

You've identified your problems which is good. There's no secret, you just have to do it. Decide it's important enough to sacrifice the time (gym) and the foods you currently eat.
Or do you actually need tips on what to eat?

Probably get better results not working out 6 days a week. Rest is part of any solid programming.

I find that designing shorter workouts makes me more likely to stick with it for longer. My workouts only take about 25-30 minutes. Is it the most comprehensive workout in the world? No, but I don't dread it and I always have the time to get it done. So in the long run it's better for me.
Also, make a strict schedule for when you workout. I have an exact day and time for each workout and I don't plan to do anything else during those times. Eventually it becomes part of the routine and you won't even think about it

No off days is a big one for me.
No "cheat meal" either.
Keep a decent diet; don't deprive yourself.

for morning workouts when your alarm goes off drink preworkout then hit snooze
by the time it goes off again you'll be up and halfway to the gym
