If Hitler hadn't gone after Russia, he may very well could have remained in power with most of Europe under his thumb.

Russia was his undoing.

That's the bold lines and colors of Expressionistic Art.

Art used as propaganda.

To me the rise of the Nazi party is simply one of the more fascinating periods of history to study. Amazing how he was able to amass such a following in a very small amount of time.

Hitler was a master propagandist. He studied acting and every movement and gesture, voice inflection etc. was utilized to extreme effect. He also studied mass hypnosis. Probably the Mose effective human being ever at manipulating the masses.

He was a master at manipulation but in all honesty we have one in power now that is nothing but charisma and look at how many fools still believe in that POS.

Hitler was able to enthrall the German masses because he brought them hope and pride after the hopelessness that followed post WW1. Germany was in shambles, it's economy an absolute wreck and the people had nothing to brighten their day. It was ripe pickings for an egomaniac who was to use the peoples desire for pride and something to believe in. Hitler gave them that. Of course while he was parading around getting Germany back on it's feet he was also planning his nightmarish vision behind the curtains. By the time the average German citizen realized what was going on it was too late to do anything about it.
I know all this because my Mom is German and grew up in the years just prior to and during WW2. As she would tell you, when she would ask her mom why they had to go attend this parade or that rally, her Mom basically told her that they either went or would never be seen again (aka...shot)
When a government owns all the guns and bullets you are pretty much at their mercy.

quote: This needs a caption. Hitler is presented a Volkswagen as a gift for his 50th Birthday and exclaims: "A Volkswagen for my 50th Birthday? Are you out of your mind? Porsche, You'd better get your fastest Porsche over here before dinner, or you're dead, you nit-wit."

Hitler ordered doc Porsche to invent the German model T. The beetle was that. Everyman could afford. Hitler got the only convertible.

Watched a story on Goebbels/his diaries on Netflix recently & he is rated as the most intelligent Nazi in Hitler's inner circle. He noted that the intelligence level amongst the average German in that day was not very high. One reason the Nazis targeted the intelligentsia in both Germany & the occupied countries was to remove the potential for intelligent discourse when discussing the Nazis. As well, Himmler was an ardent anti Christian, pushing instead for pagan beliefs & rituals. All designed to appeal to the masses. Stalin was the same way in ruling Russia. He was always purging the intelligentsia there. Which makes for the Nazi doctors' actions in the camps even that more despicable; they were far & away highly intelligent Nazis.

As far as I remember all those that were being tried at the Nuremberg trials were highly intelligent.

From Wikipedia

Intelligence tests and psychiatric assessments[edit]
The Rorschach test was administered to the defendants, along with the Thematic Apperception Test and a German adaptation of the Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Test.[37] All were above average intelligence, several considerably.[38]

If I could travel back in time, I would visit Germany in mid 1930's. I'm so fascinated by his remarkable use of propaganda.

I agree. Very clean designs. It's a shame they have such negative connotations.

Man it would be cool to have people worshiping you and saluting you everywhere you went like people did for Hitler.
