That's a good problem. I love parrots. They should hangout by Mikes cage.

Can post up Green Parrot cut outs on University Lake every year.

Eta: Green Parrot Club. Sounds way better than Parrot Head Club.

Those parrots can be mean, they push all the pigeons out of the area.

That's what I was noticing. They had taken over a pigeon stronghold by a utility box. The pigeons looked pissed. It was a bunch of them.

Just two parrots vs. 20 pigeons.

Quaker parrots are pretty sweet. Friend had one growing up and you're right, they're pretty loud when they get going( and not pleasant sounding). One of the best small talking birds though.

I have seen wild macaws along Carrolton too. They have no natural predators in NOLA and can frick up pretty much any other city dwellng bird. They will kill us all soon enough.

Have one as a pet. Pretty crazy there are flocks of them just flying around in Louisiana.

Damn. Wild Macaws in NOLA? What eats those things? We've got some falcons that feast on the pigeons around here. I've been seeing eagles out in the spillway by the I-10, too. No city sightings, though.

Wild Macaws!? You sure it wasn't an escaped pet?

These aren't from South America. They escaped people's homes and now they populate in the wild.

Im sure it was a former pet that was released. I have seen a red one and two different looking blue ones at different points along Carrolton recently.

I'm pretty sure they are migratory birds from central or S. A.

ETA: looks like you're right.

I think they escaped during Katrina. Had a buddy that lived on Sycamore near Carrolton/Claiborne intersection and they hung out near his place quite frequently.

I remember seeing them uptown a lot. But this incident today with some pretty well established pigeons was on Vets by Puglia's.

They were giving those Metry pigeons the business.
