Babalu for tacos and tapas

I have had 3 different people tell me they tried it recently and disliked it.

I'd probably hit up Cherokee Inn for lunch, get burger and fries

Then hit up a nice place tonight and go by Hal and Mals

Last time I went there my waitress had bruises all over her neck as if she had been choked. Her nails were black because they had so much dirt underneath them.

It was disgusting.

Dining area is way overcrowded too. The tables are way too close together.

I studied for the MS bar exam up there in early 2004. There wasn't shite to do up there back then. Hell, I was on warden-approved shore leave every weekend from Friday night until Monday morning for 2+ months, and the best I found was a couple of decent coffee shops.

Cool Al's is my favorite burger place that I've been to in the Jackson area.

Cool Al's, CS's, and Cherokee Inn are all tied for best burger in Jackson, IMO.

Fenian's Pub is a cool spot to catch a few beers.

Shopping is going to be Renaissance...that's about the only spot there is other than the Outlets in Pearl

you can root around in Fondren. Go to Saltine, Fondren Public, Brent's Drugs, Caet, Walkers Drive Inn, Pig N Pint...they are all right by each other. Also some cool shops in Fondren.

My favorite thing to do is go to iluv's work and stare at her. It's so hot that she doesn't know I'm watching...

Can you see me peeking out the window?

OP: you could also go to the MS Museum of Art downtown, I would call first and make sure they are open on Mondays. Right now they have an art exhibit called the Spanish Sojourns. I go there on my lunch breaks sometimes and they also have a restaurant.

There are also some art shops in Fondren.

Did this a week ago or so. Really nice. I think someone donated over 5 million dollars for that exhibit.

CS' is legit. I thought the food at Cherokee was pretty crappy. Never had the burger though. I always hated Fenian's. The place smelled like shite and was always filled with weird people.

I've tried some things at Babalu that I really liked and some things I didn't. I've never had bad service there either. The Babarita is on point, always.

Things I like:
Lamb Sliders
Table Side Guacamole
Braised Beef Shortrib
Pan Roasted Redfish
Steak on a Stick
smoked corn pico de gallo
grilled veggie sides
Babarita
Champarita

Things I didn't like:
The tacos
spicy seared tuna app

Lol, I used to live in jackson and most of these people just googled jackson for you. It's a truly awful city. Go to walkers or shapelys for dinner. Broad street bakery has a good lunch and coffee. Stay away from Hal and Mals, fig and pig, Brent's drugs or whatever other horse shite suggestions are on this board
