I've seen good threads go completely to shite because some jackass won't stop trying too hard to troll and the whole act gets old. It stifles potentially epic threads.

Wait we might have different definitions of this word. I consider trolling to be an attempt to elicit a negative emotion from a stranger on the internet. Are we talking about the same thing? Cause the only threads I've derailed were Darth's and I told him I was doing it (he's my e-friend so we can do that).

There are different types of trolls, but the issue, like other posters have stated, is calling anyone and everyone out for being a troll.

The Chive posted something the other day about a guy trolling girls on tinder. That wasn't trolling, that was just saying strange things to women on the internet to confuse them for his own weird pleasure. The same for the brewery that "trolled" Tom Brady by printing he sucked on their bottles. Again, not a troll just an awful attempt at humor.

Yep. People are too lazy and stupid to offer a legitimate rebuttal so the obvious thing to do is call them out for being a troll and turn the audience against them.

The other side of this coin is calling someone who really is as stupid as they seem a troll, thus giving them an unwarranted benefit of the doubt that they aren't really that stupid.

It's a fine line, and I agree that it is a term that is overused.

For example, Lucas is not a troll. On the OT, he is simply being sarcastic and funny. On the PT, he really is as dumb as he seems.

Go over to the rack and pick yourself out a suit.

"The Sting" reference. Couldn't resist.

Well I do tend to give people more credit than they deserve, so if this is a case of mistaken stupidity and Lucas P is legitimately a moronic simpleton then I do extend my apologies and I guess the joke is on me. Do carry on with your harmless halfwit humor, sir, you apparently are entertaining to numerous people on this board and I, myself do enjoy the occasional poking fun at oblivious imbeciles.

If you're being trolled by Lucas on the OT, it's probably you who is the simpleton.

But Lucas P using a pseudonym would denote some level of intelligence. Stop making fun. He's trying his best and he doesn't know any better. He's the Lloyd Christmas of the OT. He lives with this every day. Let's have a little sympathy please.

Ha! Nerd.

For the record, I'm a huge LucasP supporter. Only because he's one of the few posters that recognizes my brilliance.
