The term 'troll' is used too loosely

Media uses it all the time and have diluted it's meaning. Trolling used to be an art. Now everyone someone tries to be funny or an a-hole they are a troll. It's the worst in sports media. ESPN has gone crazy with troll.

i have a buddy who calls me a troll for every assholish comment i make. I mean im not trolling for a response, i'm just truthfully saying what i think about the topic at hand.

The ole Political Board seems to have ruined the term more than ever.
Anything that is in disagreement means you must be an obvious troll.
"Troll", along with "epic", "meltdown", "ownage". It's like old folks that just discovered these terms and then ran them into the ground in order to sound hip.
