well this is just one big circle jerk now

Rhodes has a lot of positive qualities. It was a great education, and it gave me the opportunity to study what I enjoy. While I wasnt a Business/Econ or Bio major, a lot of my friends who majored in those subjects are doing really well. I have friends who have gone to Harvard Law, yale med, Emory Med, etc from Rhodes. The learning environment was terrific - small classes, interested professors, engaged students.

Great social scene. Greek life was prominent but wasnt out of control (mostly), lots of extracurriculars. Memphis is such a run down city so there were a bajillion opportunities to get involved. For a big city, it's easily accessible for college kids and a lot of fun without being overwhelming, and despite the reputation, no one I know was ever in any danger or robbed, etc.

The bad: career services from my experience was an abject joke. For as many times as rhodes has hit me up for money (a ton) they have never once inquired into my employment or anyone I know, unless you count someone asking for class notes. Most people who majored in History, english, religious studies, etc (liberal arts) either ended up in grad school ( law school for me) or are treading water in some bs job. In short, Rhodes is a great environment but the career placement is inconsistent and the institutional involvement leaves a lot to be desired.

Agree with all of that. I was Business and had tons of opportunities... Mostly in the Memphis area. None of the opportunities came from career services.

I miss the acquaintances the most. Walking across campus and always knowing people was awesome. By Junior year, you know or recognize most of the campus. I lived on campus all four years and wouldn't trade it.

I know what you mean man. I loved the environment. Miss it every day. And I'm glad my experiences with 'career services' weren't just mine. We probably do know each other but I wouldnt want you to think less of me if I identified myself

thats true to some degree, about the kids at least, but they have some great advertising/communications programs. And like Lynxcat said, great law school and mba programs.

Eh, not garbage. The connections is Dallas are unreal. It is like an Ivy League degree in Dallas...ton of focus on networking. The Cox business school is pretty good..ranked in the 30s nationally.

My intramural law school flag football team liked that all-american free safety that came from there. Nobody could beat us in any deep route so yeah... 40+ is worth it.

Oh, one of mine would certainly fit the same bill. Don't get me wrong.

My son was just accepted. We did an official visit. It's a good school and has a good reputation. He's going to Hendrix, though.
