For example, if you're not making at least 170K, you don't even entertain the thought of moving to the bay area or L.A.

If you look around you can find decent rentals there. I have a friend that makes about 75K and she is doing just fine there.

Is it the politics, the pot, the hippies? Someone please shed some light on this matter that isn't a bull shite obligatory OT response.

Some folks have no idea of the geographical and social/political diversity in Cal.

Your politics are bat shite insane, but it's easy to get away from most of it. Half the state (Geographically) is fairly conservative and has very diverse geographical features. Mountains, desert, cold, heat, surf, etc

I don't get the hate either.

RIGHT?

I had the WORST time in L.A. I thought it was filthy and 10x the amount of homeless people than I've ever seen in my entire life.

It was like a much dirtier French Quarter. Trash everywhere, it smelled horrible, homeless people everywhere, and then a Chanel on the corner. So strange.

Most people that "hate" it have never been here.

There was one poster, from Alabama I believe, who SIAP that he hated everything about San Francisco and would never visit this city. I suppose he meant that he hated the politics of it, but having never been here, not sure how he could hate "everything about it."

I guess in some people's minds they think that the politics of a place will immediately harm you when you step off the plane.

Go to a fast food place there vs here and you'll be amazed at how different the workers are. If it wasn't so expensive I'd move.

Absolutely

Sounds like you had very limited exposure to the area. I agree that downtown L.A. isn't anything great.

But if you would try the Southbay area you would see that CA is a beautiful place.

Also, the only people in California who like USC, are USC fans.

They are probably the most hated Pac12 school in California...other than Oregon.

The scenery in Louisiana is absolutely not even close to the level of beauty in CA

You would have to an absolute moron to even bother comparing the 2.

Yeah. I guess LA can't really comprehend what it's like to have all that concentrated brain power anywhere.

This thread is a complaint about stereotyping of California and people who live there and you agree with the OP and then you pull this?

I've heard California people (and East Coast) say the same about Texas.

the level of people in CA who think they are better, smarter, faster, etc than us dumb Southeners is prevalent. That is why I hate CA. Quit acting like y'all know better than everyone else in the country.

I think that the level of intelligence is higher in California then in lots of states. Hence the amount of plant workers in south Louisiana vs the amout of people making millions in tech without breaking a sweat. Who's smarter?

Just because I misspelt a word does not mean I'm un-intelligent. I moved out of the south after all.

I've lived in the south most of my adult life and a lot of that in South LA.

The people in the lower rungs of society such as fast food workers are mostly trash in the south. Not the case in CA.
