The logic behind finding close parking spaces in store lots

It's always laughable to me how many people make it a mission to find a close parking spot in a store lot.
It's actually more of a hassle because you are going in circles, yielding to shoppers entering and exiting the store after you loop around, and waiting for people to pull out.
Even if you are too lazy to walk an extra 20 feet, you have NO idea how much walking you are going to be doing in the store anyway.

Which is why my grocery store offers valet. Parking your own car is for the poors.
ETA: the grocery store I go to actually does offer valet, but I find that so ridiculous that I refuse to use it.

I agree.
I would much rather park in the middle and just immediately pull into a spot and just walk in.
Takes way less time and hassle

I dont mind walking.

For the ultimate time saver / grocery power move, park next to a cart return bin. I would rather walk 100' to the store than 10' to a cart bin after unloading

I park way out next to a curb. I don't want jack asses giving my new truck door dings

I usually park way the hell out. It is easier and I don't have to yield to the ham planets

This also reduces by 50% your chances of a snot-nosed kid throwing his door into the side of your whip.

Also, the best carts are farther out !!!!

I do that and lots of people leave that spot open.....

This is outstanding strategy when it comes to parking at stadiums for events

up here parking close is important unless you want to find yourself on an episode of the first 48.

I always park a little far off, especially during Mardi Gras. Don't mind walking a little further.

It's called making groceries, idiot.

I park far away so I can take up two spots.

Someone recently noted in here that they avoid the spot next to the cart corral because some people get close and give the cart a shove, sometimes missing the mark. I had not thought about that.
I love to drive by someone who is lurking for a close spot, go park way out, then walk by the still-waiting lurker and give them a smile.

I always park out away from everyone else because I hate people in general.
