re: Battery powered nail gun - halleburton
Never used a battery powered framing gun, but the trim guns are nice in a pinch or for a small job where you don't want to spend time setting up. If you want cordless, get yourself a Paslode, otherwise I'd get a conventional nail gun since you already have the hose and compressor....

re: Some dumbass released a Piranha into a lake in Arkansas - halleburton
Agreed, I don't see the big deal if they die off every winter. Surely not in favor of dumping non-native fish, but if a few rednecks do so with piranhas each year it probably won't be a problem....

re: Masons of the OT...can I install a brick "seating" wall on an existing patio? - halleburton
Do you have any idea what your existing footing is? Footing aside, if it were me (I'm terrible at laying brick), I'd build a 2 or 2.5 course cmu wall 4" in from edge of slab, then hire a mason to put brick veneer over it. Probably fill every 4th cell of cmu, with a #5 rebar dowel inside....

re: Insulated Rubber Boots? - halleburton
Do NOT get the game winners, had the neoprene rip just walking through briars one day, they lasted less than a year for me and I don't hunt that often. Mucks are the ticket, tried to save a little cash with game winner and predictably got what I paid for....

re: PSA: don't spend your money on a hunt in the black belt of alabama - halleburton
Sorry you picked poorly, there are absolute studs west of Montgomery (and SE for that matter) along the river and the few remaining agricultural areas. Definitely not what it used to be like in the 80s though, pine plantations dominate what used to be soybeans. That said, you can definitely f...

re: Preference for home defense? - halleburton
[quote]No worry. I was running with it too. I really do have solid wall throughout our house though, and I really can and do shoot from hip. I even have a single shot 20 gauge crack barrel I can shoot pretty good with one hand. Love to walk out in the pasture and play John Wayne for shits and gi...

re: So where is this "void space" on a deer where people say you can shoot through? - halleburton
The short answer is that they're full of shite 9 times out of 10. Long answer, there are certainly possibilities where a 'void' may be struck, i.e. you're aiming for the heart and you actually hit 6" back, or forward for that matter, but again it all boils down to operator error IMO. ...

re: what is the longest you have left deer meat in ice chest on ice? - halleburton
all true, to me the only bad thing about leaving venison covered in ice is that it loses the deer flavor, which is why i hunt it in the first place. ...

re: Sighting in a rifle - halleburton
That, or more likely it's an excuse as to why they missed in the first place. I've had the same scope on the same 30-06 for going on 9 years now, and carry it all the time in condos, ladders, and climbers. Have shot that thing once before each season to check it and have NEVER had to adjust it d...
