Nepalise soldiers that don't adhere to the Geneva convention. Love seeing shite on these guys.. They have legendary stamina due to the thin air they where born and raised in. Anyone served with these guys/ have some good stories to share?

Saw this today which made me think about them:

Those frickers are bad, bad dudes. One vet fricked up some attacker(s?) on a train full of innocent people a few years ago. They routinely flash out and do hulk shite

They were discovered by the Brits for their attributes way back in imperial times and they've been hand picked and trained by them ever since. British officers go from village to village and hold competitions and pick the cream of the crop. It's something they aspire to and its an honor to be chosen.

I've always loved that blade too. Looks like it would be a good gutting knife.

I met some Gurkhas in a bar in the Canadian Rockies years ago. I got the impression they were not impressed by the Rockies, which one of them called "hills." Compared to Mt. Everest and such, I suppose the Rockies might appear to be a tad puny. None of those guys were taller than 5-foot-4 or so, but their demeanor and bearing sent a message–"Mess with me and risk your life"–in a subtle, yet convincing manner. When our little party broke up, they gave me some beetlenut to chew on and a small rock of hash. From these simple tokens, our bonds of friendship were secured.

I've read about them extensively in the past.

Their mental toughness in battle was based in part on their macabre sense of humor.

Example, during one battle (I believe WWII), a Ghurk manning a machine gun position was hit and fell off his gun. Another Ghurk ran up and took over the gun and a minute later was hit and also fell over. When the third Ghurk ran up, took the gun and was hit, the line erupted in laughter (because, I assume, "figure it out dudes").

Have always heard these guys are the baddest on the planet....mainly because they have a totally different mindset going in than other types of soldiers...not taking anything away from our great Rangers or SEALS... These guys are just on a different mental level.

The one story I heard about them was. They were being called for basically a suicide mission to be dropped behind enemy lines from an airplane, only half volunteered. The British officer, taken aback by the other half's apparent cowardice after hearing so much about their gallantry asked why. He was told the other half would go if they were allowed to uses parachutes.

If any of y'all are actually interested in picking up a legit Gurkha knife for yourselves check out Himalayanimports.com, I bought one about six months ago and I can't recommend them enough. The thing is almost 3/4th of an inch thick at the spine, I'm not sure it could be broken without a jackhammer. Lots of interesting Gurkha stories/info on their page too, they are true badasses.

When I was in London in the 1980's, I think, I watched the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. The guard detail that was retiring was a Gurkha unit. They were impressive and a nice change from watching nothing but Redcoats.

I can see it being a big deal if he cut his head off while he was still alive but come on. They wanted proof and they got it. And he probably saved some lives by doing what he did.
