a news release. "Powerball game rules require that every single ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn," according to the release. "This is done to ensure that every ticket sold for the Powerball drawing has been accounted for and has an equal chance to win. Tonight, we have one jurisdiction that needs extra time to complete that pre-draw process."

Sorry baws. Your lifetime supply of PFG gear and multiple Waffle House franchises aren’t happening on this rodeo.

I'm not suggesting it IS happening, just that the lottery is the perfect way to launder money and make payoffs to people. Even in states where the winner cannot remain anonymous, they can still be shielded by trusts and the like.

What's to stop them from moving money around via the lottery? The fact that the drawing is conducted under the watchful eye of auditors?

I'm convinced we're all footing the bill for a California state kickback scheme to gather taxes from the winner. I mean, their state tax haul from this round would fund SanFran safe injection sites for at least 4 months.

Every penny counts when you can't print money like the fed and still want to spend like drunken sailors to keep the ship afloat.

Statistically, should there be so many winners from one or two states? Nobody from Iowa, rural Nebraska, or Bozeman ever wins the big-BIG pots.

I want to see a winner from Friars Point, MS get the bag, or I'm not playing anymore.

If we ran elections like the state vendors run the lottery, Sleepy Joe would get like 6 million votes. That ship is run TIGHT.

You have a machine that pulls 5 white balls out of a hopper that is supposed to be equal in weight and dimensions and a separate machine to pull a red ball out. They should be able to draw the numbers without any computer aid. The only computer check should come after to look for a winning combination sold. Now, they may need computers to figure out how many tickets were sold for the drawing to update the prize amount. But they do disclaim that the jackpot is always an estimated annuitized amount.

It is not like the Louisiana Lottery that uses a computer to digitally randomly select the winning numbers.

Winner in Oregon.

What do you mean? You have to buy a ticket in person in Oregon.
