Thanks, I got plans.

Offer to go by later if they are nearby and important to you. Really, how much turkey can you eat.

My wife is working at the hospital on Thanksgiving. I'm cool with that because it's about a thousand bucks for 1 shift. So I got invited to my sister in law's husband's mother's house.

frick that. I'm going to ride my bike down the bike path and eat at a place in Redondo Beach that has a turkey and prime rib buffet.

What? Your dog is sick? I'm opening my house to you, providing a fine meal, offering the company of my family and close friends and all you have to say is "my dog is sick."? I don't know why I even call you anymore. We use to be close. We drifted apart. Why? Please come and give thanks with us. Please. It will be my honor and privilege to have you. But if you got to take care of your sick dog, I'll understand.

That's the beauty of it, you don't have to explain. If you feel the need then you're lost anyway.

Damn, what kind of holiday pay is she getting? She a nurse?

Those corporate bastards took away our time and a half holiday pay at my hospital

And yes, working as a nurse on Thanksgiving isn't that horrible as people think. There is usually plenty of food at work and you have the perfect excuse to miss out on family drama.
