As a nation, we must begin to create knowledge, training or/and conditioning for individuals to start taking action against crazies with guns. Reading about this recent shooting in Orlando, I am flabbergasted by the amount of people who were texting, snapchat, etc... when there is an active shooter in their building. What in the hell are you doing on your phone when something like this is happening? We need to change our paradigm of thinking and immediately have our survival skills kick in and take action instead of immediately dialing 911.

This also applies to smaller scale incidences like when a year or so ago, a mother ran her vehicle off the road into a body of water. She had her kids in the vehicle and she was calling 911 as her vehicle was sinking. Unreal.

Those guys on Flight 93 took action. That's how its done. "Let's Roll".

First thing you do is call 911 but after that I would agree. You need emergency people on the way asap not to call your mom

Exactly the same situation

Also, a lot of what we know from that flight comes from the victims who called their loved ones

Common sense and survival of the fittest.
I still feel bad for those people, it had to be Hell in that club.

I know I can't speak from experience and I know it's completely different when it's happening to you but how does a club of 300+ let one guy do all that damage? No one could jump him or take him down? Even if it meant me dying, I'd have rushed him in hopes of getting others out.

We need to get back to encouraging and celebrating masculinity, assertiveness, and aggression in young men instead of expecting them to act women.

I disagree. This is an active shooter. That is extremely valuable time you are using to dial 911.

Let someone else call because I'm sure there were hundreds dialing 911.

Largely, I agree with you.

I was listening to an admitted liberal (whos name I don't recall), and he admitted that he was anti-gun control... and suggested that we have to learn from mass shootings...

His suggestion: If you are unfortunate to be involved in a mass shooting, a handful of brave souls need to rush the shooter. One man can only fight off so many people.

This is certainly against our natural instinct to flee. Easier said than done. And this guy's target, (on the men's side), was probably "softer" than even our typical soft society.

What's amazing to me is that in these mass shooting situations no one ever attacks the shooter. We need to get over this hide and die mentality. Most of the time these wackjobs are using long rifles in close quarters so it'd be very easy to disarm them.

Or they were killed trying

Good to see we have so many heroes on here that would have easily ended these killings

You realize that it would take serious training for most people to react like that in am active shooter situation, right?

Doesn't appear so WHEN IN in this situation.

Sorry that I offended your delicate self. Maybe you should come up with your own solution as of what to do in a mass shooting situation instead of being a jackass.

I'm not so sure about his targets being "softer". From what I've seen through the years, that group of guys are pretty damn fit and athletic. Many could whip my arse in a second.

Have you ever had a gun aimed at you by someone? It's fricking terrifying, and I completely understand why people react the way they do.
