Brah, I was just there a couple of weeks ago. I love Brussels (I go there for work on occasion) but 4 days there is sufficient if not too much. Mix in a day trip or 3. Train to Brugge is easy. Car trip to some out of town breweries. Hell, Dinant is only 2 hrs drive.

Forgot to add, if you are a WWI buff then you can make a trip down to Ypres to tour the battlefields. Catch the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate. It is impressive how the U.S. maintains our cemeteries. Even saw a few from Louisiana buried there.

Also, Cantillon was my favorite beer tour. If you dont like sours or Lambics, be careful. If you do like em, Cantillon is the gold standard.

The more I look at his itinerary, the more I think it is a troll. 11 days in Brussels is crazy. I've done 4 with day trips out and thought that was sufficient.
This can't be for real.

OP, email me and we'll talk this out.

why what is wrong with it? They have enough to do in Brussels and we are going to enjoy the sights and drink. we have a beer festival planned, plus a couple days in London, and a possible day or two in Amsterdam.

Everyone is freaking about the itinerary, which as I explained took a total of 5 minutes through Utrip and it 100% flexible.

Agreed that 11 days in Brussels is pretty crazy. I wouldn't stay in any city more than about 4 days.

11 days total.
I would definitely do the 3 days in London, 2 days in Amsterdam, 1 day beer fest you mentioned.

That brings you to 5 days in Brussels. Add 2 more day trips (Brugge or Ghent) and maybe another day between Amsterdam and Brussels. Hell, you could even do a day trip to France just for the hell of it.
That would leave 3 days in Brussels which is plenty. Like I said, im a fan of Brussels, but that city only needs 2-3 days to visit.

If I were you, I'd split it up like this (assuming 14 days, which appears to be the time you'll be there):

4 days Brussels
3 days Antwerp/Ghent or other day trips within Belgium
2 days Amsterdam
5 days London

This is assuming these are the only places you're considering going. Brussels is nice just not that big for that amount of time. If you are spending a week plus in any of the cities you mentioned, it should be London.

well Beerfest is actually 3 days long and I would like to do 2 days of it. So it would basically be eating in Brussels and then taking the train to Antwerp and coming back that evening to eat.

we do plan on London for at least 2 days which isn't a problem and then taking some day trips from Brussels. Looking at the map there is several things I would want to see/do that is less than 3 hours away.

EUrail has high speed trains between Brussels and Paris less than 2 hours. Just saying.

Then you're golden. I just didn't want you spending 5 or 6 days in Brussels.

Seriously, if you have any questions about Euro travel, email me.

I live in Holland so been to Belgium a lot. To add to what the others have said, if you don't do day (or longer) trips by train to Brugge and Ghent, you are wasting a tremendous opportunity. A week is plenty to see everything in Brussels so those trips won't mess up anything you probably need to see.

She wants to go visit Amsterdam for a day as well which after looking it is only a short train ride.

Does she want to smoke pot or does she want to hit up red light district and have some sex with a prosty?
