Does anyone else think now is a good time to dust off a guillotine?

Yup, just think of how much we have in the US, and know that we are aware of probably 75% of them. The government is sitting on thousands of active terrorist cells inside the US and not doing anything about them

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve says 168 locations across France were raided by police overnight, and 23 individuals were detained and taken in for questioning. Thirty-one weapons, including a rocket launcher, were seized.

A further 104 individuals have been placed under house arrest in the past 48 hours.

"It's just a start. These operations are going to continue. The response of the Republic will be huge, will be total," Mr Cazeneuve says. "The one who targets the Republic, the Republic will catch him, (it) will be implacable.'

could we do this in the US? or would the minority group cry profiling and discrimination?

I could just see a major shitstorm if the police decided to go into certain neighborhoods and start arresting people.

It will take 200 people being gunned down at a sporting event before we would even think about it. Then again, nothing would make us forget about micro-aggressions and making up hardships faster than uniting against the eastern hordes.

Round 'em up and send 'em to gitmo.

Though really, we need to do something. Somewhere in between what we're doing now and McCarthyism.

What? They already do this, and have been for years.

The only way this would get full support by this President's administration, is if a very far left target was hit.

But the ACLU would be all over it.

You people are nuts if you think that the US won't do(or haven't done) the same.

Its not like the French are snatching up random people.

Because it's entirely untrue?

Not to the extent the French are. They have the ability to detain family members without arrest and search and seize without warrant.

Ahh, I see. I figured that they had warrants to detain those people. I stand corrected.

I'm not sure if the right to search, seize and detain coincides with the act of war or in this case the French declaration of state of emergency. But I like it.

What has been done here that the French are doing right now? Why do you think we would?

Even a strong conservative president could not order this unprecedented action given our laws.

Haha, that's not how it works. I'm not going to go compile evidence to refute a ridiculous and entirely unsubstantiated claim.
