re: Terrorism - what can we do?

Why do people keep saying this?? You certainly can. Nazism was an ideal propagated over 2 decades that ultimately led them to war and look where it got them. The entire world will have to take their PC goggles on kid gloves to defeat it, but it's unlikely. The ideal certainly can be destroyed to a point of controllability whether or not the world people have to stomach to take it on is the question.
You're exactly right. Islamic extremism can be defeated and the answer of how it can be defeated is not complicated at all. The only question is do we have the stomach to do what it takes to do it? Sadly, I'm quite certain the answer to that question is no. We can do it, we just won't do it.

I also think that the PC, apologizing, and tolerance for people who share IS beliefs in this country has to end.
The Muslim community in the US actively works with the FBI. Some of them have even turned in their own sons to multiyear prison sentences.

You can destroy this ideology. All you have to do is not allow the politicians to get their hands on the military and allow the generals to dictate how battles are fought. Take the fricking training wheels off our military and let's go fricking hammer them into submission.

There have only been 166 people that have won the powerball jackpot. That is 2,830 less than 9/11 alone.
If you want to include outliers go ahead, but 2830 fifteen years ago is 188 per year. Still a small average.
If we had a 9/11 every year that would be a very different proposition, but once in fifteen years (and still counting) makes this a pretty small risk.
OTOH, *every year* something like 20,000 die on the highways. But for someone reason nobody worries about this as much.

We have to contain terrorists and terorist supporting countries. Go after the money. It costs a ton of money to train and equip terrorists. These people are not working 9-5 jobs so all their food, cell pbones and what nkt is coming from somewhere. We can kill leaders and wipe out battalions at a time in a battlefield but they get replaced a week later. Wipe their money out and they can't do jack. Lets remember that islamic terorist worldwide reach didn't happen until after the oil boom of the 40s.

Agreed but very difficult. Forensic accountants and a worldwide effort to regulate banking are needed. The money supporting terror is funneled many times over via dummy charities and corporations.
Keep in mind that lone wolf attacks will not stop by shutting off the supply of money.
You have to silence the Imams preaching this 3rd century version of Islam.

According to data compiled by the Israeli Shin Bet Security Agency, 2015 was the deadliest year for terrorism since 2008. Twenty-eight people were killed in terror attacks on Israel during 2015: two foreigners, one Palestinian, three members of Israeli security services, and twenty-two civilians.

Agreed
But the culture or lack there of (depending on how you see it) has to change.
I suppose you can change the Koran or its interpretations

we need to quit worrying about offending and call a spade a spade...the FBI had this guy from Orlando pinned but let him go...3 times!!
when we stop being pussified by dear leader and do what needs to be done...i.e. put away or turn away those most responsible...shite will stop.

Have we even declared war on ISIS/ISIL yet? I know Obama called for it after the California shooting
I mean we're hitting them with airstrike after airstrike.
What is going to end of happening is that we'll arm ISIS's enemies, then eventually they'll become our enemies and fight us

I think increasing presence in the Middle East is not the answer long term and actually would be counter-productive.
Obviously there is a moral and military obligation to fight ISIS, but even nearby countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia hate ISIS.
Once that threat is somewhat contained/neutralized, I think we should gtfo out of there militarily and somehow connect them to the western ideas more in a less threatening manner. Free internet, set up free optional schools, encourage western businesses to go over there but with a middle eastern twist, etc. The gap needs to be bridged culturally for their youngest generation so they don’t grow up learning to hate the Big Bad Evil US.
But forcing our democracy, our religion, and our military down their throats forcefully is not ever going to work. It creates too much backlash.

What I don't get about this guy in Orlando is how he hated homosexuality, from what I seen in Afghanistan men are a lot more friendly to each other in public over there
Not to mention the rampant child and sexual abuse that goes on in that country more specifically little boys. It's sickening
If he were that irate he should have went back to his parents country and did something

You had me until the last part. Let them stay in the stone age and figure things out on their own.

We can start by not arming and training the next generation of terrorist groups, I mean "Rebels", to combat the existing generation of terrorist groups like we have done for the past few decades. It only continues the cycle.
This too.
Unfortunately, this generation is fricked. We need to focus and stopping the kids over there from being brainwashed too much.

Saw this other day....tell the jihadi's that every attack where an American is injured or killed their greatest enemy, Israel, gets an extra billion dollars in military support.

I want them to figure it out on their own, but give them the avenues to do so...but not force it.
They need information. The youth over there know what the adults tell them, they aren't able to browse the internet freely or go to progressive schools to break the trend.
That's all I'm talking about.
100% need to remove our visible military presence though IMO. We keep putting our dick in that hornets nest and it makes no sense. It just pisses off the hornets and we get stung on the dick.
