I have a 12 gauge, but I want a handgun and know basically nothing about them.

I want it for home defense, but also to bring to the range for fun/practice. And I want to teach my wife how to shoot it.

I know revolvers are more reliable, should I just get a snub nose .357 or something like that? Or should I go 9mm and keep a couple magazines with it?

What are the reliable and affordable handgun brands?

Been packing this bad boy for awhile. You should see my neighbors piss themselves when I show it to exert dominance.

Go to a gun store and see what one you like best and shoot it. I currently have a Glock 19

Those are solid brands
I'd go with a .40 cal. Hollow points of course.

I'd get a 40 caliber Glock and also a .38 revolver, maybe S&W or the like. Blued, not stainless.

I had a Sig and loved it so they are very good guns too, just pricey.

1911

If you want a double stack, the best for the money is a CZ-USA 75 P-01 subcompact.

They're much more practical as a self defense/combat weapon than a 1911.

I'm not sure why anybody would carry a full sized steel gun that only holds 8 rounds and requires TLC to operate reliably. It's not like they come chambered in .308

Any good revolvers? Not named Taurus that are under a grand?

I would love a nice 38 or 357. But you never see them in stores.
