In the mid-to-late 80's, pretty much every fraternity would move a couple couches out to the front yard on Fridays and have a couple of kegs and just sit out there and get drunk. The drinking age was 18 so alcohol flowed free and no one ever questioned anyone about underage drinking.
There was also South Seas and Jam Jam - again, just another reason to get stone cold drunk off your arse. I remember going to Spring Testing as a high school senior and getting beyond drunk at Jam Jam and waking up the next morning covered in hay in a cow stall with a junior sororsistute. Any idea I had of not going to LSU pretty much ended that week.
Good times!

I remember nickle draft night at Snorkles and 32 kegs being floated before midnight. Beer was bought with $1 or $5 bills and Shaq towering over the crowd.

Old school is Murphey's, Sports, Fred's, the Bayou, etc.
Mellow Mushroom was after the lenient times.

Poker until the wee hours of the morning and Skip showing up to pull Laxton, Walker, Johnston, and others out in early hours after the bars closed.
Good times

In the 70s,80s, even 90s. Apparently LSU isnt as fun as it was, and LSU hasnt been in the top 10 party schools for a while
ETA I mean weren't more fun

Sunday night at Earline's aka the Gator Bar to get by the Blue Laws.
The Bayou was more my speed, Murphy's - not so much but like most people, we went everywhere depending on which way the wind was blowing.
$5 all you could drink draft beer & rotgut shots at the Tiger.
No mention of the Happy Note yet? I am disappointed.

The very early 2000s saw a return of bullish drinking.
2 buck wells at Northgate got out of hand many nights.
Lafayette and their penny pitchers of beers and mix drinks is where things would get out of hand.
10 bucks would get you a pitcher of good liquor instead of crap.
Dollar beer nights across the river at mikes got a lot of people in trouble and a lot of girls pregnant.

My era was Sports, Dublins, Tiger bar and Fred's. We'd hit up Sports every Monday night! Good times

The kids are just too high to do anything. I went into the gas station in my hometown the other night and not a single kid asked me to buy beer.

The fraternities are very lame compared to what they used to be. I don't know why anybody would want to join one now. I couldn't say the same thing back then. Those dudes knew how to have a good time back in the day.

It's not that ones now don't know how to or want to it's that it has become overly regulated. Fraternities are on thin ice and baton rouge gives out mip's like candy.

One time we had an exchange with DZ, catering kegs trailer in the front yard.
Time ran out so we dragged/stole the keg trailer to that "bar" "Country Line "?? on Nicholson. All came out of the bar for free beer. Cops came and told me to move "my" beer trailer out of the parking lot cause they werent selling any beer

Frat Frattington and I would come back from a harrowing two class day at noon and there would be a beer truck parked in the front yard. Guys would pass out on air conditioner units or on top of cars and the IFC honcho would stop in and laugh with us about it. We'd cut the top of beater cars and put a keg in the back and cops would wave at us. We called steak and blowjob day "today". If you fell asleep in the beer room, they'd shave your eyebrows off. And you'd laugh about it. Special little snowflakes were not allowed to leave Chimes Street. Reagan won like 80% of the student vote. There was a drink special every night and the bars were packed. Nobody ventured into the library except for Asian students unless it was exam week. LSU football games were famous for the overwhelming smell of bourbon in the air. We would sneak it in by taping it on our dates legs and/or wearing a bladder and then unzipping to pour a drink. It was good times-nobody hassled us and everybody observed the "boys will be boys" ethic. There just weren't a lot of rules and people weren't super uptight and complaining about political shite. We just drank and had sex and hung out at parties and bars. You know, college.
