I'll bet you hate police officers who are trying to enforce the rules too.

Average life span is around 35. However, that does not mean shite cant turn severe with the quickness. And trust me, there is way more involved that just taking some pills and wearing a breathing machine a few minutes a day. Not calling you out, just saying.

I'm sure there are varying degrees of severity. Like I said my ex must have been very lucky, as she wasn't really hampered in any way other than those minor things which nobody would even know unless you were very close to her.

I'm not getting into the ins and outs of the disease, I was just responding to the guy who said she probably won't live to be 25. That piqued my curiosity.

And man, going off on a tangent here...life sure is funny sometimes. I took that breakup really hard but looking back now (there are HUNDREDS of reasons it worked out fantastically for me that it ended) I am glad that I didn't go through the process of getting married only to not be able to have children (potentially) adn then her die in her mid 30s. Kind of a morbid thought.

Sorry but I guess I'm a D-bag. I went to summer school the year prior to me graduating to make up a class I flunked to make sure I walked with my class. I feel for the girl but just like her shortened life and the rules of the school, that's the way it goes sometimes. Learn to accept it.

Yeah, same thing.

WTF is wrong with some of you??

Why would you potentially not be able to have children? With your ex having CF, there was only a 25% change that the child would have it. Not bad odds considering the myriad of other things that could occur.

I think the parents could have a legal case under something like Section 504 of ADA.

I certainly don't OPPOSE the school letting her walk early. But this is not a story where I'm passionate about the school's stupidity either. It's a pretty cut and dry rule, and while I would hope most people who would not be given the chance she would be would note the distinction, they may not. Which could obviously result in headaches for the school.

I hope, for the girl's sake, the school makes her happy. But this is one of the rare scenarios where I'm not totally convinced the school is being that unreasonable.

If they want to be sticklers like that, at least let the girl walk and allow her to make up the class after graduation.

10-4. Not familiar with the female issues associated with it. I know my son will not be able to have children the good old fashioned way. But I wont tell him that little secret until he's in college

Yea at first when I clicked the link I thought the school wasn't letting her walk because of something that had to do with her illness. I don't really get the outrage, she still has another class to finish and then she can walk after that. Seems kinda like the natural course for every high schooler since the beginning of time
