hasn't Nola and Paris been "sister cities," whatever the frick that is supposed to mean, for like, ever?

I wonder how the leaders of both cities treated the middle eastern population.

This woman and her supporters will tell us that people like you need to take the bus because of global warming but the mayor HAD to go to France to sign a completely meaningless document that has absolutely no impact on the city she governs.

And to make it worse, she chose the most expensive ways to travel.

need about 70k signatures to recall her

Pretty sure she won re-election with a good bit less votes than that.

Narrative was there was no “serious” opponent. The way I saw it was, there was no way that kooky Vietnamese lady I voted for could have been WORSE.

She didn't go to Paris. I forget the city name but it was some small meaningless city.

They couldn’t figure out how to book a flight and a hotel without a travel agent taking a cut?

Not like with that tab, the travel agent was scouring the French countryside for good last minute deals

Dear Mayor LEONETTI:

It is with great honor that I accept your invitation to sign the Sister City Agreement between New
Orleans and Antibes Juan-les-Pins and to participate in the 61st International Jazz à Juan festival and the French National Day Celebration.

Since I became Mayor in May of 2018, reconnecting with all of our dormant sister cities has been a priority for my administration. I was grateful for Mr. Audouin RAMBAU and Mr. Philippe BAUTE's visit in 2019 when the City received a request to renew our existing partnership. I look forward to officially signing the Sister City Agreement, renewing our friendship, as well as
celebrating our history.

reconnecting being a priority is an understatement

Only about 75,000 voted in the election (29.1% turnout), she won with 48,000sih. For recall, need signatures of 20% of the qualified voters - around 300K i believe.

Its not A LOT of money for a politician to travel internationally on a "business" trip

Politicians are public servants. They should never fly first class much less a 5 figure flight.
