Ally Burguieres, an artist from New Orleans, is accusing Taylor Swift of using one of her designs to promote Swift's album 1989. The design Burguieres is referring to is a picture of a cute little fox.

Last year, while Swift was promoting the release of her new album, the singer would post images to her various social accounts along with cryptic lyrics. In late October/early November 2014, to tease the new song, "I Know Places," she used a fox. This is where the trouble started.

Burguieres' fox design had actually been stolen by someone else who had signed their own name to the piece. The artist was quick to point out on Swift's page that this was the case and asked for credit. She probably thought Swift, who has been vocal about supporting independent artists, would be quick to rectify this wrong.

However, Swift and team did reach out to the artist, only they agreed to pay the artist under the condition she donate all the money to charity. Not cool, Tay and team.

On Friday, Buiguieres, rightfully fed up, posted a letter to Taylor and her team on her Facebook page. The letter has since been shared over 1,000 times.

1) Setup charity to support yourself
2) Pay the charity
3) ???
4) Profit

I highly doubt that. And the artist obviously was not trying to draw a perfect life like fox. The whole point was for it to look like a sketch.

T-Swift needs to pay up. That's messed up.

She's worth how much exactly? And they offered this artist a "four-figure" sum. we need to help expose this since the artist is NOLA-grown.

How much money should this "artist" receive for something used on a couple of social media squibs?

No. No, she didn't. TS re-posted the image that one of her fans posted to TS's page as one of her own. It's not TS's fault the fan lied.

I don't see how that is relevant to the value of the product.

*Update, Dec. 14, 5:27 p.m.: Swift's PR team has issued a statement:

A fan has stated that she created the watercolor drawing of a fox, added some of Taylor's lyrics and signed the artwork as her own, posting it. Ms. Swift, believing it to be the fan's original work, reposted the fan's art, with her own comment, continuing the social media conversation. Ms. Burguieres did not contact Taylor's office, but she posted on social media her claim that the fan had used her drawing. We found that posting, accepted it at face value and immediately took down Taylor's posting of the fan art. At no time during these postings did Ms. Burguieres contact our office directly. Notwithstanding the huge publicity this has generated for Ms. Burguieres and her store, in early November Ms. Swift's office made a fair offer of payment well above a reasonable licensing fee for the short time that the fan art was posted online. The offer was for a payment to Ms Burguieres—there was no requirement of a contribution to any charity. Her lawyer further advised us that Ms. Burguieres chose to go after Taylor only and not against the woman who has admitted she used Ms. Burguieres' work as inspiration. Ms. Burguieres' lawyer acknowledged Ms. Swift's action was unintentional, but rejected the offer. She promised to get back to us with an explanation of why she felt Ms. Burguieres was entitled to more money, but she never did that and the next we heard was Ms Burguieres' new posting. We have tried on multiple occasions to address Ms. Burguieres' concerns, but these actions make it clear to us that this is just an unfortunate effort to extract more money and more publicity.

He said, she said.

This infuriated me initially as well, but there is really no proof that this artist is telling the truth -- just like there is no proof Taylor's team is telling the truth. It is easy to attack the celebrity (I did it too), but I could also see this be the artist taking an easily fixable situation and blowing it up to gain publicity.

A) Publically Acknowledge the artist
B) 1 Million Dollars but only in Ally's Wildest Dreams
