Gulf Shores
Destin

the rest

Gulf Shores because sister lives there (anywhere you can go where you have a place to stay anytime beats anywhere else, unless she lived in Biloxi).
Destin is pretty close and if I weren't biased by circumstance it would be better, so it is second.

Once you have one you can go to any time, the rest have to be spectacular to outweigh the convenience of the one you have the link to.

GS gets worse every year. It's ahead of Biloxi, but that's it.

Went there a couple of weeks ago, loved the water. The beach we were on (right next to the bridge) is closed today.

Orange Beach Closed

We are discussing going to Dauphin island this summer, we've never been. What are the positive and negatives.

Those are the only beaches with the nicer white sand AND pretty water.

It's been years since I went to gulf shores...but isn't the water more that ugly brown?

As for Biloxi...went there as a kid and remember the beach was depressing (ugly sand and nasty brown water). Is that still the same case?

Biloxi beach is blocked in by the barrier islands like Ship island. It doesn't have the nice beach, but it has the casinos that some like.

The best beaches for sand and water are east of mobile bay.
