A new study done by Dr Anna Svatikova from the Mayo Clinic, and her team, found out that having just one energy drink can cause noteworthy momentary health changes in healthy adults, that could over time increase the risk of heart conditions.

Sure it can cause a heart attack. But Energy Drink drinkers are much more apt to be killed in a meth lab explosion, be mauled to death by their pack of pit bulls or have their crossbow misfire and send a bolt thru their eye socket.

Seriously, who the frick drinks these things? If I want a little boost I just drink a diet coke. Do you really need that much caffeine?

I used to drink one Monster almost every day. About 8 or 9 months ago, I had a health scare and was told by the doctor that the energy drinks very well could have played a part in it. I haven't had a drop of one since.

What is it about energy drinks that pose a heart risk? Most do not have any more caffeine than a cup of coffee.

I've been drinking them before hitting the gym or playing golf for years. Never died once.

The blueberry Monster is good. Tastes like blueberry.

A 16 oz monster is just like drinking a lrge diet coke.

A ripit is a different animal.

And that bootleg redbull from southeast asia that has nicotine in it too...well that's a whole nother beast

But they also have stuff like this...

2,000 mg taurine, extracts of ginseng roots, guarana seeds

in addition to the caffeine.

I only have them occasionally in the afternoon for a pick me up. However, they are growing at double digit CAGRs over the past few years and look to be continuing that trend.

It is quite the phenomenon that the country moves to healthier beverages but energy drinks are seeing massive growth. It goes to show that the functional benefits in the short-term overweight the long-term health consequences.

That's just stupid. There is no correlation between energy drinks and trashiness.

I'd rather have one of these than coffee. People who drink coffee usually smoke ciggs, and have nasty British teeth.

I don't know man.... The couple people I know that drinks these big ugly neon fence post looking things are all trashy.

I've never had one. Tasted red bull a few times with vodka but don't care for it and would never buy it for myself.

You have to admit that it's ALWAYS trashy people at the gas stations double fisted at the counter buying them.

A study carried out earlier this year, involving young people who had experienced a traumatic brain injury episode, found they were 7 times more likely to have had at least 5 energy drinks in the week prior to the event.

How do energy drinks cause brain trauma?

Me thinks me see a trend here..... trashy people magically get "dain bramage" more often....
