Don't be ridiculous. ADD is not a real problem. It's a cop out for the pussified people around us. I was diagnosed with ADD as "one of the worst cases I've ever seen" per the doctor.
Got medication for college. The only 2 semesters I had 4.0s were my last 2 that I tested myself to see how I would do without medication.

STFU. I guaran-fricking-tee you that Sister Claire was far harsher than anything you experienced. I got punished for reading too much when I should have been sitting still. GTFO with the bullshite excuses.

I don't have ADD but adderall helped me a ton in school during finals. Allows you to focus on school work for 12 hours at a time

I'm not saying that they aren't real problems. I'm saying that medication is not the answer for everyone or everything. These kids were all upper middle class and in 2-3 after school activities. The parents' answer to anxiety and attention problems was not to curtail some of the outside stuff or to punish the kids when they were bad. It was a straight jump to medicine and therapy.

In the world? I could see that. Education in places like the Middle East and Africa are at very low points.

To some extent, yes. Funny how so many are diagnosed with this nowadays. One has to wonder how so many made it before all of this came about - and are (in their respective time) more developed and successful than these crybabies ever will be.
You can blame it on such all you want, but that is just a band aid. The bigger problem lies in the pussification of this generation. But hey, every kid has to have a trophy because losing at something would hurt them in so many ways - right?

That's not the point of the study. The point of the study is that if you ask a 25 year old today how to change his oil, or how to weld, or how to change an outlet they probably would have no clue. Ask a 65 year old the same thing and they could likely do it with ease.
How to weld? Welding is not a common skill that everyone would have.

Any skill. Millenials couldn't wipe their arse without an app.

The hyperbole in these threads always amuse me.
Older generations are always quick to criticize this generation, but they never look in the mirror to see who raised this generation.

Looks like the baby boomers didn't do a good job preparing their kids.
The vast majority of millenials would be born to Generation X. Which officially ended in 1980.
Not your fault, as even demographers can't acknowledge the difference between generation Y and millenials.
By definition a millenial should be born in the late 90s.
Why they don't make that an official statistic is a mystery.

It's funny how repeated this sentiment is on this board. Sure, it is over diagnosed and mishandled. However, truly ADD individuals have been shown to exhibit excess rapid eye movement that isn't seen in non ADD people. Their brain struggles to dissect the stimuli and focus on one thing.
Once again, a lot of these behaviors are now more of a problem as we move away from Blue color jobs and other kinesthetic tasks that don't require the same types of focus.
Once again these types of things are symptoms of the way our society has evolved.

Baby boomers can't figure out how to download the arse wiping app.

31 and I don't think people my age quite fit that bill. We are 80s babies. How can we be lumped into these kids nowadays.

Their social networking skills are off the charts though.

I agree. I don't throw anyone born in the early to mid 80s in with millenials.

I can't believe this was put on the internet, which millenials created. Those sites you go to every day like pinterest, twitter, instagram, vine? You have millenials to thank for those. Non millenials are just jealous that they aren't as creative and smart as us
