I wonder if they're including millenials that are in the military. I've seen some young folks in their late teens and early twenties bring a broken-down C-130 back to life with amazing professionalism and skill.

And yet those before turned out ok. The millenial crap crowd won't accept blame for anything. NOTHING. It's always someone else's fault. Or it is beneath me to take a lower position. Or "I deserve..." Or...the list goes on an on. Granted, there are some who have the right morals and attitude, but those aren't the norm. Everything is "me" and what can be handed to me. Gotta love the comment a few posts up about viewing time on the couch as looking for work...

He is right if he can get the better job. Do you know how much they pay at the bottom these days? It ain't much. Taking an entry level job might even cost him money in the absolute sense. It will definitely cost him in the relative sense.
If he can hold out and get the better job, why wouldn't he?
I'd say since he doesn't have a job, that indicates he can't get a better job. That's the problem, these Millennials want to start at the top. Well, I hate to break up your unicorn rainbow cupcake party, Buttercup but that ain't how the world works. You start out at the bottom, get your foot in the door, work your arse off, and then you move up in time just like everyone before you had to do.

Much fewer than the rest. How many of those in the military sit on the couch crying about "its not my fault" or that someone else is to blame? At least they were proactive and doing something relevant in their life rather than sitting on the couch waiting to be fed.
Having been around those millenial's in the military for a long time, I will take those any day over those shite birds who cry about everything.

Excellent, Darth!

Not necessarily. These things don't happen overnight.

I don't care if you've got more degrees than a thermometer. Everyone has to start somewhere. 100% of the time, I will give the nod to a guy with a degree and a couple years of real experience over some masters holder fresh out of school who only understands how to take out loans and beg Mommy & Daddy for money. Good luck to all the Cousin Eddies out there who are holding out for a management position based off of their art history/womyn's studies double major.
And, no, I'm not particularly mad about it. It just is what it is.

I haven't made any excuses. My behavior is not in question. You guys sure are getting worked up over my comments.

Me and my two sisters are millenilals. We all went to college and got real degrees, graduated and got great jobs, started families, help out mom and dad, and give back to society. You know why? We were raised right and had great parenting. Just like every other generation and ever other group of people in human existence, they are mainly a product of their upbringing. That is why I find it generally hilarious how older generations talk down to you young ones. Who do you think made them?

Well yeah, they kinda do. Want to get a job managing a big company. Well go accept an ENTRY LEVEL JOB (do you know what that is?) at that company and you work your way up from there. For example, you want to be a project engineer specializing in power generation with a caterpillar dealer? They make about 100k a year BTW. Well you start out by going to that Cat dealer and accept an entry level job like shipping clerk or mechanic trainee. They start at about $20K - $25K a year or so I believe. From there you bide your time and wait for your opportunity. What you don't do is sit on your mom's couch wasting your day getting stoned and playing Grand Theft Auto on the XBox waiting for that dream job to just be handed to you.

It's nice to be able to come to a site like this and see what I have to look forward to in my golden years: impotently complaining about youths and placing all of societies ills on their heads. Sounds like a blast and not at all a waste of what precious life remains in this rapidly decaying body.

Also, you should recognize the irony in this situation. You have taken time out of your workday to bitch about your nephew on the internet.

Ooooo....thought patterns. That's what's wrong with the country. Thought patterns.

Is this the thread where we examine the slackers of the gen y working at sbux and make brash generalizations to an entire generation that basis.
We aren't all incompetent.
I can, among other things:
Change brake pads
Change a tire
Change my own oil
Weld
Change an outlet, light fixture, etc
Find a stud
Solve problems
And when I'm done with all that, I'll frick your daughter too (directed at baby boomers, for clarification)
