Thinking of starting this program. Anybody here get good results with it?

My current 1 rep max on squat is 300, DL 375, and bench 225. What weight should I start at for the program?

If you're pushing 225 I'd recommend building your own plan.

Strong lifts is good but it's geared more towards starting out lifting

It was originally "riptoes starting strength" for that reason

Strong lifts?

It is a great routine, but more beginners oriented. I always go back to it from time to time though.

What are your goals?

Are you trying to gain weight, lose weight, or maintain?

I use a 5x5 workout. That's when I feel the strongest. I hate doing lighter weight for any more reps.

5X5 is a solid routine. You may want to roll with 531 since you have a base foundation of strength.

5/3/1 or the Texas Method. Rippetoe also has an advanced program out there the name of which escapes me.

It isn't wrong to continue to starting strength but the lack of AMRAPs/periodization can be inefficient for gaining further strength.

At least your honest

Never heard of Strong Gains 5x5
Every now and then I'll work out with a friend and he does 3 sets warm up, then it's 6, 6, 4 (6 reps of 80% max for 2 sets, then he goes for at least 4 reps of 90% max. If he gets to 6 reps at 90%, go higher)

You meant to say warm-up, I hope.

Your bench is weAK for a guy who squats 300 and dl 375.

I did it around this time last year, and I'm thinking of doing another round for the next 12 weeks or so. I use an 5x5 app to log the lifts, and add a couple of exercises outside of the base stuff. It is very effective as a beginner to intermediate program. I only stopped because summer is running season for me and I didn't want to be doing squats 3x a week and try to run 3x a week as well. It is a great jump start, and a great refresher from time to time just to mix things up.

I like it, but keep in mind you should augment with other lifts...I like pull ups and core exercises.

If 225 is your max on bench, then 5x5 can definitely help there. I used to be barely able to get 225 up, and I worked up to 5x5x225 before the christmas holidays...trying to get back to that point now

Based on the ExRx strength splits those are pretty comparable.

Use the 5, 3, 1 training methodology. You can find tons of info for it. In a nutshell:

5 (70%) of max
3 (80%) of max
1 (90%) of max
