Glad they are patronizing NOLA but why in the hell would a YOUTH RELIGIOUS convention choose the home of booze and strippers?

Not all religions go through life with a stick up their arse.

Nope, not the first time by far. (I'm an LCMS member, former youth leader and attended some of those previous conventions.) And I think the ELCA convention in NO a year or two ago was even larger than the LCMS ones.

I know the Catholics have World Youth Day, which is massive, but do they have any US based events like this?

Well, there are plenty of opportunities for
this !

I will always recall all of the various church groups that descended upon the South after Katrina. Whether they came to New Orleans to help with rebuilding, or showed up at shelters throughout the South, it was inspiring to see so many people from so many religious be there to help.

Not a single one I saw was Catholic.

That has bothered me ever since.

This is the largest gathering the LCMS branch of the Lutheran Church holds. As stated in some previous posts, the ELCA branch has one just as big. It would probably be impractical to try to get all the different branches together at one time. Is Catholic World Youth Day a one day event like it sounds? A one day event might be easier to organize and I suppose it happens for big sporting events so it would be possible.

Damn Lutheran pedestrians tying up traffic. It took me 20 minutes to get from downtown to the Beachcorner. It was worth it though.

I guess you don't know much about the area they are staying in do you? It's not a problem area.

It's a damn nice event for the city no doubt.
I've seen a few bigger conventions. In the past there is a big arse cardivascular or something like that that comes to down and I think they have over 30,000 attendees.

F these kids.

I had no idea that the Lutheran church was a huge cult until I had to deal with these little shits. I worked at the convention center for a few years and all their activities were in the halls. I worked in the sales side--one time I was walking through a client and had to call security because a few of the older ones were in areas where they were not suppose to be.

This other time It was storming all day so
The kids were forced to staying inside the halls. Nothing worse than 10k or so smelly arse kids and teenagers culting it up. Although, My department had a good laugh watching them play bible Jeopardy.

From the look of most of them, they need to run for cover when the sun rises

It takes a narrow minded guy to complain about an influx of tourism.

They are now leaving and the airport is full of them - wall to wall kids. Compounding the problem, SWA computers have been down and their flights are backed up.
