In New Orleans, diversity is dead.
Uni-thought is the only permissible way.
Diversity would tolerate both historic Civil War monuments and more recent expressions of civil rights aspirations and the struggle.
But Mitch the Mayor says no. A craven city council enables the deed under the flimsiest of pretexts.
Thus with the removal of the final statue, diversity in New Orleans has died a coldly calculated death.
We are all the poorer for it.
Goodbye New Orleans.
Diversity there has died.

For the love of everything holy, stop with all of the statue threads. I know you think you have new, valuable insight, but you really don't.

Diversity is about celebrating different ideas and perspectives. Many times in order to celebrate such, it is necessary to eliminate many ideas and perspectives in order to celebrate only the ones that are worthy of celebration. That's true diversity.

You could have stopped there and we would have agreed. But you went on and denied or contradicted your original premise. Diversity is side by side, not either/or. The latter is totalitarian thought.

But many times in order to achieve true diversity, some thoughts must be silenced in order to make way for truly different and varying points of view. You agree with this correct?

There is nothing wrong with silencing certain perspectives if they're not the correct ones.

All perspectives are equal, however some are more equal than others.

I’ve got alotta memories in my life, and sometimes you have to dump the small ones to make room for the bigger ones. But sometimes when you try to dump the smaller ones – you think they’re gone but they’re not. They’re sittin’ there, waiting to pick up exactly where they left off. No matter if there are new memories standing in their way or not.

Straight out of Orwell's Animal Farm. Lol.
The trick is who gets to decide which perspective is correct. You? Me? Who?

Nobody gets to "decide", that's like saying who gets to decide what color the sky is. Things are correct or they aren't. And when they're not correct, we have people who remove those ideas, that's how society works.
