My theory is most people go through the alphabet and there are a lot of states beginning with M and youre going to forget them.

Think about it. Missouri has no identity. A member of the SEC? The second biggest city is named after another state.

I quit with one minute left and couldn’t find / remember Rhode Island on the map.

Same here, but I really think it's cause I couldn't see it on the map once all the other names were up.

The states most people remembered when making their lists were California and Texas (97.3 included the states); Washington (96.5) and New York (96.4)

Wouldn't have guessed WA would be in the top 5, much less ahead of New York. Probably has something to do with sharing the name with DC.

eta- just played it, most likely due to its position on the map.

I read this title and before clicking it thought of Nebraska or Missouri...bigger states that aren't really uniquely small or unpopulated.

from just this thread I know I would have never thought of Minnesota or Vermont, and If someone told me Indiana or Deleware weren't states I wouldn't have questioned it. Humbling

Would have been done in 3 minutes but I misspelled Massachusetts and had to figure out where I messed up the spelling. I know the states by heart, though.

Finished in 3:28.

I had 50/50 with about 2 minutes left. Just worked west to east. Spelling Connecticut fricked me up. It was that second "c".
