Getting to 7:30 class is much easier than a 9am class.
This. Get to campus before 715 and there is parking galore.
800 and you're screwed.

as far as i know he should have bought tickets already.
Don't make your son live at home.
He should leave the house no later than 6:15. No shite it will take like 30 minutes to get there + park + walking to class. .

Had a 5 hour math class my first semester at 7:30. Commuted from parents home (Shenandoah area) and never missed a class. Made a B. Second semester samething. Another 5 hour math class (calculus 1), never missed a class. Made an A. If you are dedicated it really shouldn't be an issue. My second semester it was rough because the only class I had on Tuesday and Thursday was this math class. Still never missed a class though.

I had several 730am classes but of course I lived in brusly so I left at 630 am to avoid traffic on highway 1.

Commuter parking lots aren't full for 7:30 class. The shitshow doesn't start until 9 or 10. He'll be fine.

11000 dollars? Get a couple roommates and rent an apt or cheap house around LSU.

His college experience will be watered down compared to his classmates.

Traffic shouldn't be bad around the city at the time he's going to have to leave in the AM. Best places to get books are from other students usually, there's facebook groups for that kind of stuff, or chegg/amazon renting is pretty good too. I'm not certain but I think freshman get football tickets during the semester, apart from previous students (we confirmed ours a few months ago)

I had the same schedule coming from the same place. I'd leave the house around 645ish and park across the street from the stadium.

Make sure he doesn't get a girlfriend freshman year. Or sophomore year. Or junior or senior year.

This is the advice I have for you:
Like many other posters, I say let the kid live on his own. When I was in school, my parents lived exactly where you live. But I lived near campus to learn how to be independent. If the shite hit the fan for any reason, at least my parents were in the same town. But living on my own taught me as much about life as college itself.
Next, stress the importance of just showing up for class. If you show up, you can't possibly fail. Seriously.
Drop the 7:30 am class. It's misery. You don't have to do it, so don't.
Don't carry more than 15 hours a semester unless you have to. I did 18 most of the time, but I regret it. I should have took it a little slower. I would have enjoyed it more.
Don't be afraid to drop a class. Not working out? DROP IT. Try again next semester. It's okay.
Don't be afraid to change majors or change your mind about what you want to do. This is normal in college.
If it takes more than four years, don't worry about it. No one is keeping score. No one will care other than you. You don't need the additional pressure. College should not be a chore.
Lastly, plan on graduate school. The bachelor's is step one. When I was in school, hardly anyone did grad school. Now, it's very common. There's a flood of young competition in the work world sporting master's degrees. It's getting hard for me to keep up with just a bachelor's. Your kid will experience that competition right away, in his 20's if he doesn't have one himself.
Good luck!

Tell your son to go to class.
If you must make him live at home make it very clear to him that if he can't drive home (he will be getting drunk) that he is 100% of the time welcome to spend the night with a friend or call you at any hour to come pick him up.

Get him in the dorm - he will be missing a huge part of his college experience otherwise. And drop the 7:30 class.

at 7:30am he can get a spot anywhere

I much rather live in a dorm than with my parents. It is too late now for him but slumming it in Herget or the pentagon is a worth while experience.

For a 7:30 class he will have his choice or lot and spot he wants to park. Bring up the campus map and chose the lot that is closest to his last class.

If you let him drive himself to school, he's just gonna skip the 730 class. You need to drop him off the first couple of months (added bonus, no parking). And if he shows some responsibility after that, let him drive himself a day or two a week.
