NBR, took this area in its grasp and swallowed it up!

In the 70's and 80's it was a decent, nice, blue collar working class area. Now it is a decaying war zone!

Holy shite. I was there too. I was just talking with a friend about this on FB. It was crazy. I wonder if we know each other. How old are you? I'm 42
I am 48. I believe I was in the eighth grade or the seventh grade when that happened

Wow, all these teachers bring back memories. Never like Gauthier, although I did go there with her daughter. Wagner was awesome. He always ran detention. They only had detention once a week there and in 36 weeks, I had to go 30 of them. My last year there, 7th grade, I had to go to the principals office where I had a desk. I had too do my homework until she was done for the day. She would then bring me home everyday. At the end of the year, they said I couldn't come back for 8th grade so I went to the redemptorist

If only we let teachers get married, they wouldn't bang their students.

Wagner was the man. He taught me Algebra his last year. "Close but no cigar" was his phrase. He had an unhealthy obsession with Volvo's

STM is not going to take in all of those voucher kids.

1) the parents of current students will not be happy at all. you run the risk of having your paying customers leave.

2) voucher kids are a gamble. they come in and you get the money. if they can't pass the state tests, they can't stay.

you end up with no more voucher kids and your paying customers are gone

When a private school is 80% voucher kids, that is a big indicator that it won't be around long. it's relying on the state to keep it afloat.

You have to be kinda a weird guy to want to go into a profession which demands celibacy and forbids fathering children. Every man has those desires inside of them

I'd be fine with just being able to get laid...I hate kids and have no desire to ever father them or be around them in any capacity.

There's been an acute priest shortage for years now. This is merely the tip of the iceberg. Moreover, isn't the fact that Livingston and Ascension are exponentially growing a cause for concern in EBR?

There’s been a TON of smoke regarding the Archdiocese building a Catholic High School somewhere in the Southern part of the city of Denham Springs for several years. The floods delayed it a bit. But I’ve heard the School Board and the Archdiocese have been discussing some land purchases for awhile.

Also heard that LPPSS is pouring money into Walker High and built LOHS a new school from the ground up in an effort to blunt parents from moving kids into any school built in the area by the Catholic Church.

St Louis was an awesome place when I was growing up.
Cup ball on the BBall court, tackle football during recess, and Mrs Nasca wearing umbros and a t shirt
Mr Wagner, Mrs Rogers, and Mrs Gauthier I'll never forget them.
during my time, we had some bad arse athletes unfortunately Catholic High took some in the 8th grade.

Mrs. Chatelaine was the hardest teacher I ever had in 7th and 8th English and litature class. I used to hate going to her class everyday because I knew I wasn't going to pass what we learned. But Mr. Wagner was the best teacher I had over there. Coming from public school to the 5th grade was the first time I ever played smear the queer at recess.

This also brings an end to one of BRs finest recreational softball leagues (and field).

I had a blast playing softball at SLS for many years, miss those days. I went to SLKF from K-8 and RHS from 9-12...a little disappointing to now have both places closed/closing

I was there from 1986-1991. My dad played softball out there and I played for a couple of years in the late 90's. It was a great place back in the day.

My guess is probably half the elementary schools in Arch of NO are at least half to 2/3 voucher kids.

Is there demand? Always thought LP had decent schools and not a lot of disposable income to afford catholic HS education
