Hell that's a question that requires an intensely in-depth response to be properly answered, and it would also require someone much more qualified in that department than me to answer it.

Louisiana is ranked at the bottom of the country in public education, where Texas is ranked towards the top.

Texas has no state income tax.

Texas had far better infrastructure.

Louisiana has higher crime rates.

Right?

I think there is a lot that goes into having good educational systems, which makes it much more complicated than just having good schools.

Gov. Blanco in 2005 stated (along the lines that) if Louisiana earned only 1% royalty on its offshore drilling, the state would need NO federal funding.

I don't know how accurate that statement was, but regardless, I guarantee Texas earns a hell of a lot more than 1% royalty on offshore drilling.

Texas is typically ranked in the middle, like almost universally in the upper 20s

Texas public education system is overrated

*its obviously better than LA

LA needs better healthcare industry. They should look at building a mini Med Center like Houston has. Hell, every major suburb in Houston their own mini med center.

Too many favors and handouts giving in Louisiana. Too many groups of people wanting different shite.

Cajuns want one thing
Creoles want another
Blacks want something
Rednecks want all groups to leave them alone

If you're in healthcare in H-Town, you're winning like a mofo.

He was comparing Texas to other top states, and I was explaining why Dallas is considered to have a top public school system although the state is in the 20s. Zero need to be a dick.

When you look at Dallas, there a quite a few ISDs that are top 25 in the state (out of 1000). Plano, frisco, Allen, McKinney, Grapevine just to name a few. These ISDs are also ranked in the top 500 nationally (out of 13000). The overall quality in the state may be in the 20s but when you look at Dallas and Austin, the public school system is top notch.

You realize you can do that for a lot of states by zeroing in on their best public school areas and they will perform better. Texas is average in schools at best. I don't know where you guys got this idea that they are this highly prized nationally.

Healthcare is what helped Houston stay afloat during the recent recession and O&G tanking.
