Growing up in NC I was taught to pull over to the side of the road to let a funeral procession pass by. Living out west I have noticed many people just keep on driving, going about their day. I have wondered if this is a geographic/culture thing or a maybe people just don't do it anymore.

Do you pull over when a funeral procession is passing by?

Depends on how many lanes the road is.

My grandmother's funeral procession got cut off by a bunch of a-hole drivers. I gotta say it was pretty disrespectful.

I'll pull over for the dying, it's not like the dead are worried about it.

I won't break into the procession or anything, but chances are I have something to do.

I'm with you on that. But I also am not going to yield to one that is driving up behind me either.

I was in a funeral procession in the spring and several assholes cut in front of us to avoid a breakdown in the road. I was annoyed.

Yes, you should get out of the way.

I wish they'd pull over while I'm alive. Wouldn't need the loop at all.

But I pull over on 2 lane roads.

In New Orleans I had never seen anyone do that. In more rural parishes I've seen it often.

yep this is where I see it more than anywhere else, although I've seen people pull over in BR too. I'd also like to add that a couple of weeks ago, I was in the procession of a good friend. Her procession was led by probably 30-35 police, fire, EMS vehicles, not only did people pull over, there were actually people who were standing along the way in places as we passed. I thought it was very respectful thing to see in BR.

Yes. It doesn't seem like a big deal when you're driving and they come by you, and sometimes it's an inconvenience. But it means a lot to the people in the procession. It's a sign of respect and care for a lot of people in a very difficult time. And it's something extremely simple and takes 2 mins tops. Anyone who doesn't pull over (same side of the road) is a dick
