Pull out that carpet permanently and get the floor bedlined. Hose it down whenever you want.

I get by with a trailer behind my jeep (12' flatbed with ramp and a 12' enclosed) but I may miss it when daughter number three moves off to BR for college. I've used her f150 on occasion when needed. I do have a little v6 S10 single cab shop truck that I use here and there too.

Nope. You sure do like being wrong though.

ETA: Obviously they can cost more, but the can also cost significantly less as well.

I own a house, and I've built a deck, have a huge raised bed garden, replaced all crawl space insulation, and a bunch of other tasks....all with a Honda odyssey

My question to those of you without trucks, do you really find that you need one often and miss having one?

Because I find that my Porsche 911 Carrera is way better than a truck.

If I need something moved I hire someone. If I buy something big I have it delivered.

$20 and 59 cents here, but still not bad for short trips.

I don't have a truck and have never needed one. I do tons of work in my yard and around my house and get by just fine without borrowing a truck or renting a truck.

I have an SUV and plastic tarp that works great for 99% of my needs. When I have something oversized to carry, I spent $300 and I have a permanent solution. I bought a Harbor Freight fold up trailer that I store against the wall of my garage. It will carry 1200 lbs I think and it folds up and stores against the wall of my garage. Takes up about 5 feet by 3 feet of space.

I have also used it to transport 2 motorcycles over 500 miles.

I have a friend that hooked a trailer hitch to the back of his sedan and he uses my trailer and it works great for him too.

No big truck needed.

That said, if I was in the construction or farm business, I would get a truck. If I had to pull a big boat, I would get a truck.

I have a boat. I am a truck person. We recently bought my wife a new to her SUV and I have been driving her TSX and leaving my tundra parked. While it is financially prudent I am not sure how long I will be able to keep it up.

Your ego can't handle being in a car? Why couldn't you keep it up, it's not like you got rid of your truck.

I have a SUV, and the only time I needed a truck I ended up renting one from Lowes for like 20 bucks a day.

Nice. I may look into that. I've also heard of people installing transmission coolers on minivans and pulling small trailers with them.

I'd be willing to bet my dad has done more house and lawn projects than you've done in your life, and he has never owned a truck.

My third vehicle is a truck and it sits a lot. I could do 95% of what we use it for with a trailer, but it would be a pain in the butt. I could get by without a truck, but my preference is to have one on those occasions that it is most convenient to use.

That's so untrue it's not funny. I've gotten all my mulch, re-built my fence, built an 8x8 utility shed, laid tile and laminate flooring, and plenty of other home improvement things above and beyond what the average home owner is going to do. All with an SUV. I'm not saying a truck isn't nice and people shouldn't own one. But those "I'm a man dammit, I NEED a truck", people are fooling themselves. If I ever needed to move a couch or something and absolutely can't do it with my SUV, I can rent one for the same price as renting a pressure washer. Plus I have a trailer for my SUV, so I don't even need to do that. Truck enthusiasts (not all, but a lot) fool themselves into thinking they are manlier than they are and just have to have that truck.

Live in the caribbean, gas is like $4/gal and was $7/gal before the price fell.
