Flying hungover is the worst. Gotta stand all that time boarding, then possibly sit next to a motormouth, followed by being hot on the flight the entire time.

That is pretty rough.

Twice in the last few years I've had to head on a flight back home with a cold or something that made my ears hurt like hell as we descend. Can barely hear people talk either. It's brutal.

The whole thing. It's basically a trip to walmart, where at the very end, they jam you into a tube and take you up 25,000 feet.

I'm trying to get over it though. In college I traveled on break so there was never a rush to get anywhere. Now, if I wantto spend any meaningful time on vacation, flying is the only option.

The only time I was overly nervous was on my very first flight. It was a short hop from Laffy to Memphis, but it was on a prop plane and I was right next to the engines. I remember staring at the engines constantly thinking at any moment they'd malfunction.

Taking a sinus med or something with Guaifenesin (Mucinex)can help thin whatever is clogging your sinus and ears and make flying easier. (I actually have to take something like that when diving in cold, deep springs. Flying and/or driving can put pressure on your ears/head that can cause pain if they are clogged or the mucus is thick).

But i love flying. I love the takeoff and landings. I love going up in private planes when they are doing pivots and stalls and stuff like that. I'd be so happy if i could go up in a crop-dusting plane.

I've flown probably twice a year for the last 20 years and I'm still nervous .. It has subsided to the point where I don't pop any pills but it still sucks for me and I just don't get it.. Something changed when I got older that really made the experience a bad one for me..

I'm not afraid to fly. However I'm claustrophobic so that kicks in on occasion when flying. I have to always have a window seat with window shade open. For some reason I don't feel as closed in as long as I can look out the window.

Ya those two times just came out of nowhere and both were around holidays.

So I'm going to load up before my vacation next month for sure

My wife (no pics) has recently fallen victim to anxiety on flights, nothing that needs medical treatment but she gets very uneasy during take-offs and landings.

Told her if we did it will be quick.

I am terrified of flying. I can't handle heights.
I used to be ok with it but I just can't do it anymore.
I know it's irrational but I just can't help it. I miss out on a lot of awesome trips because of this fear.

Hate flying, and it never gets easier. The take offs, landings, and little elevation fluctuations throughout the flight. I have my routine down with my crossword puzzle. My pen doesn't stop working until we're at cruising altitude or safely on the ground.

Can't beat the convenience of it versus driving, though.

Don't even think about it really. Just get on and go.

I'm not a white knuckle flyer, but it's not my favorite form of transportation.

Flying is the closest thing to magic that we have and I love the opportunities that it opens. Flown over 150 times for work alone in the last 18 months. That said, for some reason the experience puts me on edge and I take anxiety medicine on occasion to take the edge off.

I've gotten much better since my teenage years where I used to have extreme anxiety. Now I take a very small amount of Xanax and have a drink and I'm fine. Probably don't need either but it makes things much more comfortable.

I've recently started to dislike it, but it has more to do with the fact that I'm cramped up in a hollow tube next to hollow strangers. Flew back for the Ole Miss game last weekend and somehow got upgraded to First Class on the way back home. What a difference that really makes. Had the seat all to myself, very roomy, with no one sitting beside me, and a free drink at take off. It really is such a stress reliever.

As far as fear of it, no. Chances of you dying are almost zero. I should be much more afraid of being behind the wheel than in the passenger seat of a plane. Flying can be quite the bitch, but it's nothing to be afraid of. Just drink at the airport and on the plane. That corrects 90% of your problems, and for your international or redeye flights, bring Ambien. It completely changes the flight. Don't worry all that much, and if you can't, get something in your body that will allow this.

You never got on a flight before you needed to go on a business trip? Maybe on your father's business trip that he's nice enough to carry you along, but surely everyone should be on a plane before then.
