I have one and I think their quality is overrated.

They're well worth the money and are more "American Made" than Ford or Chevy.

They're good, especially the Taco. But the Tundra is nothing special.

I've had an '82 4x4 pickup, a 2000 4x4 Tacoma and a 2000 4x4 Tundra. I've never had to do anything other than standard service to any of them. They are freaking indestructible.

I haven't seen the base 2016 model so this is a comparison of the current generation. It doesn't seem like a midsize truck, it's more of a compact truck in disguise.

I get the visual appeal. It seems to me that they just appear bigger because of the wide fender molding and larger tires. The trucks are even jacked up higher to appear bigger so they have to add the mud flaps to close that gap between the ground and truck for the illusion that it's a bigger truck. Especially since it's marketed as such, with the "Prerunner" package to make a 2x4 truck look like a 4x4.

It's clearly obvious when I see a base model without all of the body side molding, large tires and mud flaps. Then compare that to the one that is commonly seen about. They're the same truck, it's just made to look bigger.

Base Tacoma:

Most commonly seen Prerunner 4x2 or 4x4 Tacoma:

Tacoma:
Head Room: 40.0"
Hip Room: 53.6"
Leg Room: 41.7"
Shoulder Room: 57.7"

Ranger:
Head Room: 39.2"
Hip Room: 52.7"
Leg Room: 42.4"
Shoulder Room: 54.5"

They're OK, but tons of dorks out there bolt all sorts shite on them and suddenly think they're expedition vehicles. Just makes them ugly IMO.

I still drive my 26 year old Toyota everyday. Never had to do anything to the engine except routine maintenance and change out the starter.

It would be interesting to compare the sizes to a late 80's/early 90's model.

Im a fan of Toyota in general. Last vehicle was a Camry. Traded it in for a Tundra. Never a problem with either.

Good trucks, but quality (relative to Toyota's overall reputation) is about the same as Ford and GM.

A bit behind on electronics and user interfaces. Somewhat poorer MPG than Ford and GM.

Outstanding resale value, especially on Tacoma.

People think that because the 20 year old ones are still on the road that the current models will achieve the same long term quality and dependability

And they pay handsomely for that assumption

I have an '08 Tundra that I am ready to trade in. I like the looks of the F150 Limited Editions but they are not at dealerships yet so I am waiting another month or so.

As far as my truck goes, it has been OK. I have had a few issues (electrical issues, some sensors went bezerk, my gas gauge stopped working for a while, changing the oil is difficult to do, etc.). My biggest complaint is I can't seem to keep it aligned. I have had 3 alignments on that truck and it's 7 years old. Because of that, it chews through tires.

That was an issue that I thought they had cured. I know the previous gen had that problem.

I love my 2011 Tundra. I've got 95k on it and no problems so far. I've got toyo AT's and made a new Ford look silly at the camp last weekend. I think it was more the drivers fault than the trucks though
