I've been to dozens of weddings all over the country and never seen a money dance or heard of anyone I know having a money dance.

I'm not convinced they're real.

It's a third world tradition that was somehow picked up by regular good old USA white trash. Seriously.

Anyone who says it's a cultural tradition better have direct family ties to Poland or the Philippines

Is the history really relevant once it became standard practice for a family? In other words, even if it has trashy origins, if it has happened in most weddings for 50+ years, I think calling it a tradition is acceptable.

FWIW, there are plenty of ways to screw it up and make it a cringe-worth affair, but in my experience they're tasteful and fun.

History is always relevant when it comes to class and etiquette

I sat a chair in front of the bride and gave her a dollar.

True Story. May I die if I'm lying.

Only sober wedding I've ever been to.

I got married in my mid 20s. We had one. I don't feel bad about that.

Same. Getting married in New Orleans in three months. When I went to the venue they asked if we were doing a money dance. I had never heard of that shite. Not happening.

Are you really trying to refute that it's NOT a traditionally Polish and Filipino tradition? .
